People on twitter are freaking out a bit over Herman Cain saying that I could not support Rick Perry as the nominee for a host of reasons. Heres the clip:

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
Yet another one to run interference for Romney. This is worse than 2008.
Perry and Cain do not hold the same stance on immigration. Not even close.
Sorry, but Cains stance on borders alone completely sets him apart.
His stance is fourfold, not threefold:
1. Secure the Border
2. Enforce the laws already on the books (including deportation)
3. Encourage the path to citizenship already in place. That is not amnesty. The path to citizenship requires that they first come legally.
4. Empower the states to do what the Federal government cannot do.
SECURE THE BORDER:
Herman Cains border control stance is one of the strongest out there. It is a PHYSICAL border, technological and people.

Cains promote the path to citizenship is not amnesty. He has defined it in my speeches to mean immigrants must first come here the right way.
Empowering the states to do what they have to do. Case in point, Arizona - http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/05/21/20110521presidential-election-herman-cain-tea-party-ON.html#ixzz1N3xOwayJ

Not a big deal to me as both men are engaged in a campaign for the nomination. I expect that either of them will support the party’s eventual nominee, but right now it would be stupid to say you support you opponent. If that’s the case why bother running?
Yes, Perry had kind words for Cain and Newt.
He said his ideal VP would be a combo of the two.
Get a grip everybody. Half the time (or more) they purposely take things out if context or position a question to do a ‘gotcha’. They WANT us to turn on each other. Judging from this thread, it wont take much. Remember we are all on the same side.
I like Cain but he ain't no He-Man.
Similarly, I won't click on a blog that can't spell his name.

Good for Cain.
Just curious how many of those commenting and getting pissed are doing so based solely on a the fake title by a poster who registered 2 weeks ago?
Have you actually clicked on the article and watched the video to see what Cain said? I would argue that the use of the word “Today” gives the statement an entirely different meaning.
I’ll do Herman one better. I won’t support Perry as the nominee. LOL
Since when do YOU speak for ALL Freepers. Did Jim turn the site over to you? I’ve got 4 years seniority on you.:-)
Yup, he will clarify these remarks quickly. No question in my mind that Cain will both endorse and campaign for Perry if he wins the nomination.
I’m hoping it will be Sarah, when she declares. :)
I thought “Herb” would make a good VP. So much for that.
Who are you and what is the point you are trying to make?
I did watch the clip.
Perry has agreed with each of Cains talking points on numerous occasion.
****This week the darling on FR is Cain. Last couple of weeks it was Perry. Before that it was Bachman.
Who will be the new FR darling in Oct? Flip a coin****
It is called politics, campaigning, sorting out, deciding, comparing.-
Used to be we would do all the ruminatin’ at the water cooler or over the kitchen table. With the internet and FRiends, we get a little giddy, rowdy, rambunctious, obnoxious and yes, even confused.
Then the dust settles and we do the right thing - which is getting the rot out of the White House.
God Bless.
You nailed it
Did he say that he would support him as a nominee? Or as a Challenger to Obama. I’m sure it was the 2nd. For me I would vote for my dogcatcher before Obama.
