I`m reading the responses to your level-headed comments with growing confusion. Indeed, suing this slob diminishes Palin as you`ve suggested. However, she and her family have been battered so much, I am pleased to see that finally someone is being put on the spot for their smears. Maybe--a small maybe--some `news` organizations will be more reluctant to smear her in the future.

But the responses to your comments contradict the Palin fans`s stand-by that Palin resigned the governorship because legal issues took her attention away from her job and were a huge distraction and financial drain. So now she`s going to be able to bring up her family, possibly run for and serve as president AND spend money on a lawsuit she instigated [where is the money for that going to come from on a president`s salary?]

Either Palin gallantly can`t serve in office while dealing with lawsuits or she can--which is it?

The laws in Alaska and the laws in this case/situation are two different things entirely.

There she was constrained in dealing with ethics suits that she had to personally pay - all of which were ended in her favor.

Here it’s not HER ethics that are under the legal microscope, nor does she have to pay. Those ethics suits directly had effect on her ability to govern as they were aimed AT her and the state of Alaska/other govt employees who ALSO had to go out of pocket. Not so now.

For starters.

Did you read the article?

Palin’s law firm is serving notice to Random House that they want to see the emails between McGinness and Random House to see if their is anything actionable.

Palin will let her lawyers handle this, and she has more than enough money from her book sales and speaking fees to pay the attorneys.

Mainly, she’s sending a message.

It’s win/win for her, especially since McGinness basically admitted he couldn’t source these rumors, but Random House printed them anyway because “time ran out” and the book had to go to press, regardless of whether the contents had a shred of truth to them or not.

Why is this so hard for people to understand?

They sound like the same people that said Palin couldn’t serve as VP and raise a child at the same time.

Palin could serve as President, juggle several chain saws, raise her children and still have time to track, hunt, kill, field dress and cook dinner for her family.

What moronic commentary.

When Palin resigned, the ethics complaints against her administration had cost Alaskans two million dollars and thousands of hours of lost manpower. She quit as Governor on behalf of Alaska.

This is a potential defamtion lawsuit, it's a private matter between her, her family and her attorneys. She isn't costing Alaska a dime.

Nice try.

I’d say Sarah Palin has earned enough money to afford her attorney and when she sues, she will have a lot more. No worries, mate. She’s good to go.

In war, as in politics, you choose your enemies carefully. Sarah waited until an enemy of known repute was in a vulnerable position, then she strikes hard and fast.

If she defeats this very significant enemy, her lesser enemies will give great pause before antagonizing her in the future.
