Sarah Palin (Casablanca, Rick, Ilsa, Victor Laszlo, Vichy, Nazis)
July 10, 2011 | techno

Posted on 07/10/2011 5:58:26 PM PDT by techno

The movie Casablanca (1942) is considered by many movie critics and buffs as the greatest movie of all time.

I agree and I also believe the movie applies as well to the life, fate and destiny of Sarah Palin as well.

Here are 13 reasons why I believe so:

1)The main protagonist Rick Blaine has clearly "gone rogue" and has a certain elan. Although he is initially cynical and clearly not as patriotic as Sarah Palin, he will eventually by the end of the movie show his true colors and that is is as dedicated to the cause, patriotic and noble as Palin.

2)The relationship between the Nazis and the Vichy French regime in Casablanca (French territory)that I have often compared to the political relationship between the Obama regime and the GOP establishment and officeholders (Vichy Republicans), the latter doing he bidding of the former, collaborating with the enemy and "selling out" its own countrymen and patriots.

3)"We all try: you succeed. (Rick to resistance leader Victor Laszlo)

Palin expressing sincere admiration for many great leaders in history including Washington, MacArthur, Lincoln, Churchill, Thatcher, Reagan etc.

4)"I bet they're asleep in New York; I bet they're asleep all over America."

The need for a Great (political)Awakening in America led by Sarah Palin.

5)The setting of WWII, the takeover of Paris by the Germans and Nazi tyranny--symbolic of the current rise in tyranny, political and thug oppression and liberal Fascism in America--the need to escape from it and live in freedom

6)The love story between Rick Blaine and Ilsa Lund, symbolic of lost innocence and love of country that Americans know they lost with the election of Obama and his continued desire to transform America

7) Victor Laszlo, resistance leader vs the Nazis

"No one can take your place Mr. Laszlo if you are shot while trying to escape."

Sarah Palin is also just as indispensable to our side as well.

The Nazis, fear Laszlo, hold him in utter contempt, and want to destroy him as much as the Left fears Palin, the elites despise her and her enemies want to destroy her.

8)At the end of the movie, Rick Blaine traveling to Brazzaville in the Congo, thereby "quitting" his career as a night club proprietor and taking up the fight against the Nazis in a different venue vs. the Palin resignation and taking her political fight to the Lower 48.

9)Although on the run from the Nazis after escaping from the concentration camp, Laszlo never abandon his wife Ilsa even though he is in danger vs Sarah Palin after her resignation, unlike most Republicans who tend to abandon their colleagues on the political battlefield to be slaughtered by the enemy, as suggested by Whittaker Chambers, who defended Nikki Haley when she was charged with an extra-marital affair and did NOT abandon her on the battlefield even though she was always under constant attack herself.

10)The decision by Rick Blaine to sacrifice his love for Ilsa for the good of the cause ("The lives of 3 little people don't amount to a hill of beans")sending both Victor and Ilsa away on the plane flight to Lisbon and to freedom vs. the personal sacrifices of Sarah Palin she must make for the cause and to run for President in 2012 (the politics of personal destruction by Obama's MSM propaganda machine and personal character assassination).

11)"Isn't it strange that you often fight on the side of the underdog?" (Victor to Rick)

Sarah Palin, advancing commonsense conservatism on behalf of Tea Party supporters and ordinary Americans

12)Victor calls for the playing of the La Marsellaise that drowns out the Germans singing their own national anthem at Rick's night club

If you could all watch this one scene you will fully understand the charismatic power that Sarah Palin possesses and why her enemies don't want her to run or to shut her down.

Nazi general to this impromptu display of patriotism:

"If Laszlo could inspire that kind of public demonstration..."

He then orders the night club shut down.

13)"It's still a story without an ending."

Sarah Palin in her quest for the presidency.

To: Matt Hatter .... You Palin haters make me sick. She’s the one bright star we have, maybe not ripe for the Presidency but the irrational hatred of her and people who support her by fellow FReepers is unjust. In the end, the only thing worth fighting for is to eliminate Obozo from getting a second term. If it’s Sarah, Michelle, Timmy or Myth...anything is better than the POS we have now. ...... GRRRRR

Well, GRRRRR, have you considered that the comment that Matt Hatter made has nothing to do with "hating" Sarah Palin but, rather, with the mocking of the over-the-top behavior of her more rabid supporters?

You made two points in your post that I absolutely agree with 100%:

1.) Sarah Palin is "maybe not ripe for the Presidency".
2.) The only thing worth fighting for is to eliminate Obozo from getting a second term.

You do realize that many of us figured that out long, long ago and have posted those exact opinions?

You do realize that the result has always been that the vast majority of Sarah Palin supporters on FR would then go absolutely bat-sh#t crazy and start a mindless barrage of "Troll! RINO! PDS!" followed by over the top gushing about how Sarah was absolutely perfect?

You do realize that the polling data shows that over 60% of all voters have stated that they will "definitely NOT" vote for Sarah Palin?

You do realize that, with that polling data, a GOP nomination of Sarah Palin absolutely guarantees the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama?

Have you considered that Matt Hatter's reaction to this over-the-top veneration of Sarah Palin has nothing to do with "hatred" of Sarah Palin but, rather, frustration at the Cult of Personality behavior of her most rabid supporters, some of which have actually posted that they would stay home on election day if Sarah is not nominated?

The most rabid Palinistas on FR only care about seeing Sarah nominated and absolutely refuse to rationally evaluate the data that shows the impact of such a nomination on the chances that Obama will be reelected.

It is like dealing with the Heaven's Gate Suicide Cult.

Thus Matt Hatter's mockery of the over-the-top adoration of a mortal politician.

On the next Sarah Palin Worship thread, GRRRRR, simply post this opinion:

"I believe that Sarah is maybe not ripe for the Presidency. In the end, the only thing worth fighting for is to eliminate Obozo from getting a second term."

Just post those two opinions and leave it at that.

I guarantee you, GRRRRR, that the Palinistas will be on you like pit bulls on a pork chop:

"Troll! RINO! PDS! Troll! RINO! PDS!"

In the end, it seems that Sarah Palin has her feet firmly planted in reality while her more rabid followers are clamoring for the GOP to commit electoral suicide. In the end, there is every indication that Sarah will stay out of the race and endorse Governor Parry of Texas, a very strong candidate that can actually WIN the 2012 general election.

And she spelled the names correctly. Only the name Palin(TM) is allowed to be spelled correctly.

Those other pretenders are trying to steal Palin’s(TM) thunder by having their names spelled correctly too.

She was the first one to start doing that. Everyone else is copying her.

She was the first one to use a bus.
She was the first one to ride a motorcycle.
She was the first one to to snout to snout with a trout.

Look it up. You’ll see...

What a load of rubbish!
Polling data huh? From 2 years before the elections?
You may want to read the Time magazine article from before Ronald Reagan declared his candidacy (been posted here quite a few times). He was “too conservative”, “naive” and “out of the mainstream” to win apparently (and they had plenty of polls to back it up too). He ended up smoking Carter in one of the most lopsided victories in US history.
In addition, you might want to look up polls on your Messiah, Barak 0bama, from early in his candidacy. By far most Americans thought he was not qualified to be president. Who is president today again?

My response has already been stated by Polybius. You Palinistas don’t seem to understand...I am amazed at you, not hating Palin. I have never in my many years of following politics seen a group of people act in such an embarrassing manner over one candidate. YOU stated my position; I don’t see her as ripe for the Presidency. But I have stated on a number of occasions that I will vote for her if she is the nominee. Enough with the ‘Palin hater’ label. Obama is destroying this country.
There is another pattern is see emerging on FR. Any positive comments about a declared or potential Republican candidate ALWAYS brings out the Palinistas to counter the good words.

I debated whether I should even respond to you, and the post won. You add nothing of substance to any thread except insults. Beyond your lame one line zingers, I have rarely heard a cogent counter-argument to anything. Pathetic.

I really do try to steer clear of any Palin thread, because

Photobucket

Tar Baby

She’s the one bright star we have, maybe not ripe for the Presidency

That is a fair statement. But the second phrase is the red flag that seems to just set off some folks.

but the irrational hatred of her and people who support her by fellow FReepers is unjust.

If there is irrational hatred, I surely agree it's unjust. However it is not hatred nor irrational to opine that she is not our best candidate. And this is where the discussions seem to go off the rails.

Suggesting that Palin would face an unwinnable battle in a head to with Obama is not the same thing as "being a liberal" or "buying into MSM hogwash" or any number of other canards that are lobbed routinely.

You do know of course, that most of these polls are oversampled for Dems by 10-30% depending on the poll company?.

All I know is Obozo has to go. What ever dynamic develops in the GOP because of Palin’s presence or absence will set the tone for the eventual nominee. That nominee has to be the best at articulating the Conservative Vision for the future.

The other variable in the equation is the MAIN STREAM MEDIA. They have thrown all in for Obozo as we know. The nominee must be savvy enough to tell the MSM to go pound sand and then withstand the whirlwind.

Who do we have in the lineup or on the bench that can do that?

It’s plain enough. The use of the term “Palinista” is derogatory and implies a connection, somehow, to some sort of third world gang.

I put the same weight to “Palinista” as “Teabagger”...it’s a loaded word.

Words mean things and should be used wisely.

Excellent!

When I see all the “shorthand” terms that folks use, thinking hot words win arguments, I pretty much mark them as emotion driven. I enjoy posts that stay on message and show evidence of some degree of reason and thought. I try to be open to persuasion.

Which is why, to repeat myself, I generally refrain from even looking at Palin threads. I took a day off work today, so I thought I might break my rule to see if things had changes,

They have not.
