Conservative commentator George Will did double duty today, first defending the Constitution from those who believe the document was intended to be interpreted flexibly, and then later on This Week, also delivering a message much less likely to be cheered in some conservative circles. Will argued that it is impossible for the deportation of all illegal immigrants in the country to ever be considered a realistic solution.
Will believed that if the borders are secured, then and only then, could a non-politicized discussion take place about what to do with the illegal immigrants currently in America. If there are 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, Will explained why its impossible to think rounding them up could ever be possible:
To deport them would require not just police measures we would never tolerate. The majority have been here five years or more, theyve had children here, their children are citizens. But to depart them would require a line of buses bumper-to-bumper extending from San Diego to Alaska. Not going to happen. And as soon as people come to terms with that, then we get on to settling it.
Given that a secure border is not a weird aspiration, Will argues Americans are not xenophobic and merely just want security. Unfortunately, such a common sense, middle of the road approach probably seems out of reach given how highly politicized the immigration debate always gets.

I understand that. But do you deny medical treatment
for a serious illness, heart attack, auto accident for anyone, including illegal immigrants?
Yeah, and who's fault is that, huh? It's our own government's fault for sitting on it's behind and catering to their every whim to win illegal votes.
But to depart them would require a line of buses bumper-to-bumper extending from San Diego to Alaska
Well, that's a start.
I agree. There is a solution however. We're on the cusp of seeing E-Verify nationally for all employers. I say expand E-Verify to anybody recieving public assistance. This would include illegal parents collecting for their anchor babies.
No E-Verify, no workee....... No E-Verify, no welfare. The vast majority will self-deport, then we can concentrate drugt runners and other scum.
RINO,RINO,RINO....
Can you spell rino????
ENOUGH with this jerk!
Maybe we can deport George Will.......on second thought, who the hell would want him?
>>It’s happened everywhere it’s been tried. <<
Last I heard they are quitting Georgia in droves...
Thats right. Throw employers in jail
granted, even if you could deport 1000 a month it would not make a dent in the 15 million the Government deliberately let in.
It could be argued that nothing really can be done that is totally adequate until the border is sealed.
Who says America can’t get 20 million Mexicans to leave the country? Mexico did it.
At the moment he sounds like a Moslem defeatist.
LOL
yes we can
Essentially, you “sour the milk”.
1. Strong border fence (patrolled and monitored).
2. E-verify or face penalties
3. Random INS sweeps
4. Penalize sanctuary cities/states
5. Encourage states to pass their own immigration laws
6. Enforce current Federal laws
7. Put Mexico on notice
8. Scrutininze money transers
9. Cut off the social welfare spigot
Make illegals look over their shoulder 24/7 wondering if this is the day they get nabbed, lose their job and benifits.
1. Have the IRS wash all W2 Forms through SSA computers to find all bogus SS numbers or duplications and the employers that harbor them. Raid the employers, arrest the employees that have SSN problems and verify their legal immigration status. If here illegally, deport the illegals and their families back to Mexico after taking biometrics of the illegals. That goes a long way to fixing a lot of our immigration problems.
2. Announce the policy and say it becomes effective in 45 days. Announce that all employers who have knowingly hired illegals will be heavily fined and will do prison time. Then do it when these scofflaws are found.
3. Require all employers E-verify ALL foreign employees during the 45 day grace period. Require E-verify for all new hires.
4. Announce that if you are deported and come back across our borders without following proper immigration procedures and do not have a valid work visa and Green Card, you will serve 10 years in a federal prison with no exceptions.
George Will makes the classic mistake of thinking it's impossible to get rid of illegals. Just enforce immigration law and make it too risky for employers to employ the illegals. A lot of our illegal immigration problems will solve themselves through self-deportation.
Good plan.
We need to cut off all types of welfare benefits to those unable to verify their citizenship.
“Who says America cant get 20 million Mexicans to leave the country? Mexico did it.”
That right there is nice, tidy, irreducible truth.
They are self deporting out of GA in droves. Hasta La Vista and good riddance. All you have to do is announce that you are going to start rounding them up and deporting. Then open a couple of no waiting exits heading South at the border and watch the line of ants start to form. George Will is an azz.
I only wonder how it can be possible that George Will would fail to understand this very simple point. Or how anyone would, really.
Nope. give them a quick check if it’s non life threatening call ice and have them take a seat in the waiting room.
if it IS life threatening, call ice and treat them until they are stable enough to travel to their home country and turn them over to ice.
I am so sick and FRICKING tired of working my ass off to support legal people sucking off the system I have absolutely NO time for illegals sucking off the system.
