A group of US representatives plan to introduce legislation that will legalize marijuana and allow states to legislate its use, pro-marijuana groups said Wednesday.
The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, and allow people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal.
The bill, which is expected to be introduced on Thursday by Republican Representative Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Barney Frank, would be the first ever legislation designed to end the federal ban on marijuana.

Not 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 year olds, but just 15 year olds. And it’s not because of any of the reasons you previously claimed. They think (if it’s true at all) that 15 year old kids are not going outside to be with other 15 year old kids due to cells and smartphones.
You can’t claim that all drug use is down due to the recession when you have a dubious survey narrowly aimed at 15 year olds whose authors came to a completely different conclusion. Come on. You can do better than that, can’t you?

Now you’re just making crap up. You sent figures from the Beverage Information Group that showed a 1.1 percent increase in alcohol consumption in 2009. You can’t have an increase in overall alcohol sales and then claim that you have some magical beer figure that negates actual sales figures. You don’t work for the IPCC do you?

I don’t know what this link is but I went back to your figures and beer sales were down 2.9 billion cases while hard liquor was up 188.7 million cases. But cases of scotch vs cases of beer? I think we may have a wash.
By count that’s a 20 to 1 ratio, so by volume it’s undoubtedly the case that beer leads the way to the bottom.

This is called turnabout. Obviously I don't think ALL people who use drugs are like David Laffer, but when you suggest that Conservatives with society's best interests in mind are all "a$$holes who think they are morally superior," I have to bring the conversation back to something approaching reality. Ron and Nancy Reagan were HUGE "a$$holes" by your terms.
I never said all. Not all conservatives want to control every aspect of everyone else's life. I guess the term, "self-determination" is meaningless to you.

While Reagan did some good, he didn't walk on water. Sure, he cut taxes, but he also made a deal with the liberals on Congress to let them spend money like drunken sailors.
He also allowed law enforcement to trample on due-process by signing asset forfeiture bills into law.
Personally it would not bother me one bit if alcohol was illegal along with all the other mind altering drugs, so you're barking up the wrong tree with that one.

Jesus never got drunk, as far as we know. Again, there is a fundamental difference between alcohol and all illegal drugs: Throughout human history non-alcoholics have been able to enjoy alcohol socially and in moderation without getting drunk (and without the intention of getting drunk), while the only reason to smoke pot is to get stoned.
If Jesus had lived during prohibition, you would have had him arrested for distribution of alcohol.
Getting stoned is not the only reason to smoke pot, which is why many states have passed medical marijuana laws.

And just to throw another wrench into your figures, home brewing is becoming more and more popular. Plus there is an entire underground of hard liquor production (which is illegal in most states).
