Glenn Beck announced today that he is launching an online TV channel.

Looks like he is supporting all the Apple iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod) & Roku.

Will enough people be willing to pay for this?

No matter how much is paid to Beck for this new ‘service’ I’ll bet that 10% of it goes to...

It is clearly obvious that you have read more Mormon doctrine than I have...I have never even seen a Mormon book of scriptures; or whatever it is called.

Where would you like to start?

It helps if you some some basic BIB LE under your belt first, though.

You'll hear a LOT about the BoM - Book of MORMON - but hardly any of the LDS doctrine or practices come from it.

The OTHER lds scriptures are the ones with the 'goodies' in them.

Islam is a bigger threat to this country than the big bad Mormons...try slamming them now and then.

The Muzzie's don't claim to be Christian - and the only TRUE ones at that.

We are technically deficient geezers.

We purchased a Roku. My husband connected the cables. We went online to their site and clicked on setup. A box appeared on the TV at the Roku channel (set at Video1 on our TV, but it can be on any component and if you have HDTV, it has a port for that). The online site gave us a code. We typed in the code on the TV using the controller. That is all. It is now on our TV.

There is sometimes a problem with buffering, but we are rural with DSL. That happened once when our ISP was having DSL problems elsewhere. The movie went out and resumed when service was restored. We used the fast-forward to get to our place. Easy. There is usually a short reload at the beginning as it buffers for quality. You can pause, forward scan and go back. No closed captions, but I just concentrate and usually can understand things enough. The audio, IMO, is better than sat TV and so is the picture. We have the medium priced Roku.

Netflix is the only sub-channel we really use, although hubby likes Sail TV. I am really happy that there will be more offerings available. I will likely sub to Glenn’s channel.

There are NO commercials on Netflix. There are commercials on Crackle (a sub-channel), but we rarely watch that. It tends to lose signal in the middle of a movie and the TV offerings are excerpts. The *news* is either US TV video podcasts one day old, w/o FNC or foreign, with a lot of ME and Indian offerings. There are a lot of Christian sub-channels, an outdoors, wildlife one, music, some comedy...haven’t really had time to check out everything. I think I saw a conservative commentary channel, but I don’t really remember. With FR and the various blogs, I have all the conservative news and commentary I want and my husband has his sailing forums. I might watch 10 minutes of world news in the morning and then we watch a couple of series episodes or a movie or documentary for about 2 hours in the evening. I expect we will watch more in the winter.

The entire platform is brand new and wide open. I read a rumor that Netflix is developing its own series. Read another rumor that they will pick up a new season of The Event.

Our sat TV ends tomorrow at midnight. Even if I add Glenn to Netflix, we will be paying less than one-third of what DirecTV charged, We are alternating several series we never saw from broadcast TV, plus we browse the movies and documentaries and just pick what looks interesting. We also get 2 DVDs at a time for viewing in the shop, although, I usually listen to Rush and maybe Hannity and Clark Howard and that takes up the work day.

So, check it out. It is way less complex than it was a few months ago. Roku has a web site and will list all the free sub-channels. There are paid subscription sub-channels, too.

A person seeing your posts for the first time would probably be driven away from Jesus Christ rather than toward Him...JMO, of course.

Have a nice day.

Evidently not enough to tell others about the false teaching - heresy - that is MormonISM.

When a journalist makes a concerted attempt to edit provocative comments out of the public record,
it’s usually an indication that the remarks in question count as uncomfortably revealing.

Agreed. However, he has specifically said that there are things that he is not permitted to say on Fox. I admit to being curious......

But I am really angry at him for picking and choosing which parts of the Constitution he supports, especially this one. The last 3 years comes down to eligibility: the crux of the argument being loyalty to the USA.

Considering the ABOVE is all that I posted in this thread before your statement here; one must wonder just how you form your opinions...

Thanks so much for your info re: Roku, HDMI cable, etc. I'm pretty sure we have an HDMI cable hooking up our cable box, HDTV and components.

I assume these new devices like "Roku" are available at places like Best Buy? (I may need the Geek Squad's help, LOL)

I'll go over and talk to someone at Best Buy when I can. Thanks again! :-)

LOL, Well we do "think young", but that sounds like a good description of us, to be honest! We can barely keep up with all the new technology available these days... it's incredible.

Thank you so much for your info about Roku. I will print out your instructions and look into it as soon as I can.

I am pretty sure Roku only sells their boxes online at their website...

That is one reason why they are only $50.

The last time we were *early adapters*, was 25 years ago: we spent waaaaaay too much on a big, heavy, clunky video camera. Now, of course, even a cheap TracPhone has a camera. And no need for video tape.

I tell myself that the dreaded learning curve keeps our brains agile and is probably more valuable than crosswords.

All the Roku instructions come clearly labeled on the manual. The entire start-up procedure is clearly presented on the website, once you receive the device. Probably the clearest and simplest device setup I have ever seen, as though it was actually designed for other than IT nerds or kids.
