We consider ourselves Christian and Jesus Considers us Christan. How do I know? Jesus told me so in answer to prayer to him.

Well, it's official Mormon policy that if a Mormon prays to the Mormon god, and the Mormon god tells her it's "OK" to get an abortion, then it's "OK."

(So we know how trustworthy that Mormon burning bosom is)

If anybody doesn't believe me on that one, I'll be glad to quote Mormon policy chapter and verse on that!

Again, IMHO, Politicians are, in general, the absolute worst examples of religious believers for whatever religion they profess to represent.

Exactly. In the last year of his life, Joseph Smith declared himself a candidate for president of the U.S. He was also acting mayor of Nauvoo, ordering a mob to destroy/censor a printing press that critiqued him.

And Brigham Young was territorial governor at the time he sent his leaders down to Southern Utah to become hostile vs. those people coming into Utah Territory. 'Twasn't very long after that that the Mormons massacred 140 innocent children & their parents in the southern part of the territory. And, of course, even though dozens & dozens & dozens & dozens of Mormons took part in the massacre, and hundreds more knew about it and covered it up to various extents, only one Mormon was ever prosecuted for it.

And then there was Mormon democrat B.H. Roberts. He was a Mormon general authority and elected to Congress in 1898. But he riled up 7 million+ people in the U.S. who signed 28 banners to NOT seat him in Congress...because he had taken a third simultaneous wife after the Mormons slowed down on polygamy with a "proceed with caution" edict from its "prophet" (1890).

So, we actually agree Delph!

But for some reason, your people went to treat B.H. Roberts as one of its best-ever Mormon theologians; and it went on to name its most prominent university after Brigham Young; and it doesn't remember Smith as the multiple criminal he was -- including smuggling weapons into jail...so I guess the rest of your people don't share your feeling there!

Well the Mormons never made it to my town after the tornadoes...

(They'll be in Joplin...they lost a meetinghouse...an ELCA Lutheran church lost their church building there, too)

I survive because I was conspicuously not a mitt supporter in the last election campaign.

Mormons are quite good at historical revisionism. (You're no exception). By implication, you've implied here that Mormons are banned due to their Mormonism; and not for breaking posting rules and even exceeding clear common sense re: not engaging in extreme accusations of fellow posters.

If you were to review one by one why those Lds posters were banned, you'd 'fess up to what I'm saying as true.

Now if you want me to bring up each Mormon poster one by one with the exact thread linkage, I can do that for you. Just like I had to straighten out your wild-eyed accusations of Godzilla. (We can show the world how off the mark you were there...to the point that all you did posting-wise on that thread was to slink off into silence)

“I personally believe discussion of a politician’s faith should be restricted to the Religion Forum, regardless of what faith they are.”

I assume then that we can have conversations about their politics free from religious zealots dragging the conversation to the gutter. That’d be a great step. Next, why have a religion forum on a political site?

“Bishop Mitt Romney has already said that Muslims won’t serve in his cabinet.”

A) what does him having served as a bishop have to do with it?

B) Is this a bad thing?

C) If he promised to have Muslims in his cabinet wouldn't he be being bashed for that?

One of the problems (of many) that I have with Glo-Bull warming alarmists is there is nothing that they can think of that would disprove their religion of Glo-Bull warming. IF there is no right answer on a subject, than it's not fair to bash someone for giving the wrong answer.

Jesus decides who are his sheep and who are not. We as individuals declare ourselves to be followers of him, or not, and he confirms us later. I dare say that no religion can guarantee you a place in heaven, and there are many people in many religions that will surprise you by getting there.

FYI you ain't Jesus, you don't get a vote and it's mighty presumptuous and unchristian to say you know who is saved and who is not. Just sayin....

“Mormons believe in a different jesus, one that is the brother of satan.”

Where is that Oh Jeeze Guy when you need him. This has been so debunked. http://freerepublic.com/~delphiuser/#Brothers

“And conceived differently than is explained in the Bible.”

BZZT! Wrong! We take the Bible very literally. Jesus is the son of God, the Bible says so. and no we don't think God had Carnal relations with Mary, so get your mind out of the Gutter.

“Plus the founder of Mormonism declared that all Christian denomoninations were an abomination to God and that he was to start a truly “christian” church. Of which no Christians were qualified as he had condemned all of them in his sweeping “revelation.””

Like no religion has ever declared all others to be wrong before, wow what a novel idea /sarc

Get a life

“I do not witness in a hateful way, but none the less by exposing false religious beliefs I have been hated.”

Let me be the first to ask... so how do you know you are not being hateful? Is it because all the others who are acting in a hateful way tell you you are not, or is it because those you are “helping” think you are not being hateful?

Just curious.

“Delph, that is not a valid remark to make no matter WHAT your religion.”

The point was to make fun of those who are saying they know I'm not Christian. Apparently, you missed it, or I didn't do it right. Either way it was tongue in cheek.

“Jews are not “Christian” Nor do they claim to be - unlike Mormons.”

The question was, can you vote for a non Christian if they are Jewish?

The argument I was responding to was that Christians can't vote for a Mormons because they are not Christian, so can you vote for a Jew?

It's a simple question.

“Mormons have claimed that Jesus was conceived the regular way, through sexual intercourse between God and mary. Is that disgusting enough for you? “

This is a flat out lie. I do not claim to know if you are repeating it on purpose or out of ignorance, but it's still not true. Mormons Believe that Jesus was Born of a virgin which means no sex, get it?

For the full refutation of this pernicious lie, see: http://freerepublic.com/~delphiuser/#TheVirginMary

As long as you are OK with religious bigotry then reflect it in your other posts.

Nana,
JFTR, when I was serving in Taiwan, most of the people were Buddhists/Taoist, I took no for an answer, I was polite, even by Chinese standards, I was never pushy, I was very successful.

I don't think you know Mormons very well and not just from this one post of yours either. You always say the darnedest things.

Anyway, have a nice night, I just prayed for you.

“The disgusting part is that mormons say He did it, not that He did it.”

We don't say it, you do by bringing up what we wish you wouldn't because it is very disgusting, I guess that's the point. Say something disgusting and then point to the other guy and say he said it.

“You have the typical dumass mormon way of twisting words and attributing things to me that I neither said nor implied.

God did not come down to earth and have sexual intercourse with Mary and if you think He did you are sick and probably mormon.”

I have been around Mormons a lot (being one), and I have NEVER heard a Mormon say that, humm...

“Contrary to the Mormon belief that “heavenly father” impregnated her in the way we are familiar with.”

Specifically, this is a lie. Whether repeated in ignorance or knowledge it is still a lie.

Mormons Believe in the virgin birth which would not happen with your prurient description see: http://freerepublic.com/~delphiuser/#TheVirginMary
