You do realize the top comment on the video is:

OCR and compression software scan for searchable text, but also for high resolution text with or without hard edges, low resolution backgrounds, and then another for soft edges and colors. There can then be countless other combinations of layers on scanned images depending on the OCR settings of the software.

It's obvious that the difference in the rough and soft edges on the text got caught up in different layers. Look at the green background layer. It's not a static green pattern but has white lines carved out where the text should be. It's not like a Photoshop layer.

It's so obvious that this is the case, but I can see that the snowball is already rolling down the hill.

Enough is enough people. The guy was born in Hawaii.

And my next questions would be “Who the hell should care about an electronic copy and why?” The physical document itself should be the only thing considered.

The WH released a physical copy to the WH Press Corp. They got to touch it, feel it, photograph it, and make copies for themselves and their news organizations.

So now, news organizations other than the biased FactCheck.org have seen, touched, felt, photographed, and photocopied it.

 I just checked the official web site for Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital and according to the information there, the name of the hospital at the time of his birth should have been Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital. According to the web site the name didn’t change to Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital merged with Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1978. So how could his official long form birth certificate that was generated in 1961 have the name of the hospital that wasn’t created until 1978?”

And once again I ask the simple question: Where are the darn creases??? Hawaii only mails out the BC’s and they are folded twice. This one has no sign of creasing.

I’m actually really frustrated with this crap. I was hoping that the issue would die here.

The comment on the video suggested that someone doctored the BC to make it more “readable”. Why would they do this when they know that *ANY* signs of tampering would only fuel the fire??

I’ve never seen OCR software create “boxes” as are exhibited around the signature and the date on the form.

Or maybe I just haven’t been around enough! :-)

The name was changed in 78 to kapiolani medical center but in 61 apparently it was the one on both 0dumbo’s and the twins BC

The last digit in the COLB Number is clearly digital. No typewriter used on that character.

I don't think that number was typed. (which doesn't clear up why the final '1' doesn't have any of the imperfections of the others) But if you look at the ones within the body of the form, they are all lower case Ls. (The first typewriter I used didn't have a '1' so this isn't too strange to me.)

For what it’s worth, the capital “O” in both instances of the word “Oahu” is slightly elevated. Whereas the capital “O” in both instances of “OBAMA” is not elevated. The rest of the letters are not of the same case in both words, but still, it is interesting.

I only looked at this because once I reviewed the document, there was nothing there that would cause Obama to spend millions of dollars and political capital to keep it secret.

If this is the real deal, he could have released it during the primaries as it would not affect his chances except positively. Everyone already knew his current middle name during the primaries.

Furthermore, when working in Illustrator, and specifically commercial print, there is a difference in the appearance of 100K black (CYMK) and "Rich Black."

It's quite possible that if the original was scanned and modified, the color settings in the program/computer they were using made the modified text appear on their screen as the same color when in actuality it was a lighter/darker shade and would appear as such on other machines.

It’s probably because the OCR isn’t scanning the signatures as text. They’re being scanned as a separate image layer on top of the background, while the OCR is picking up most of the rest of the text as searchable.
