Coca-Cola Paying for Terrorist Lawyers While Objecting to DOMA?
Leibowitz's Canticle ^ | April 26, 2011 | Leibowitz

It appears that Coca-Cola pressured its hometown law firm to drop the House of Representatives of the United States as a paying client.

The Obama administration, speaking through Attorney General Eric Holder, had declined to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, leaving what is normally an executive branch duty to Congress to perform in its stead. The House of Representatives retained Atlanta megafirm King & Spaulding to defend the law on behalf the people of the United States. A week after being hired, as noted below in Profiles in Cowardice, K&S dumped its representation to defend the constitutionality of DOMA, which had bee enacted by overwhelming majorities in Congress and signed into law by President Clinton in 1996.

There are other King & Spaulding clients that haven't created measurable concern at Coke. Among them are several of the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay. Not only has Coca-Cola not objected, but because K&S is providing legal assistance to the terrorists for free, the firm's other clients, certainly including its largest, are picking up the tab.

So, according to King & Spaulding and Coca-Cola, the Defense of Marriage Act is out but Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his associates are in.

Coke, teaching the world to sing in perfect harmony.

It seems so un-Cokish to engage in political activism beyond the interests of selling their beverages. Remember the brouhaha when the lady CEO of Pepsi suggested that the USA under Bush was too menacing to the world? You’da thunk that Coke would have watched and learned by example not to become a political brew.

ironic considering the CEO was a refugee from Castro’s communist tyrany.

Thanks, though they seem to lose something in your translation... and you missed an important one.

Thanks, though they seem to lose something in your translation.

Here's your video link, as a clickable block of text. How could anything be lost in the translation this way?

you missed an important one.

Likely due to the fact that if you hang out on blogs, you get diseases. I exit quickly.

Further, if you wish me to translate your blog material accurately
and in it's entirety we shall have to agree on a price.

My point is that driving traffic to your blog is not needful.. unless that was your plan all along?

The lawyer assigned by King and Spaulding the task of defending DOMA, Paul Clement, became so upset by his firm’s decision to withdraw from the case that he has resigned from King and Spaulding.

Paul Clement will now begin a defense of DOMA with another law firm, per Jay Seculow:

P.S.-Ignore “humblegunner”. They are just a troll on the comment thread with nothing positive to contribute. They just want to be disruptive.

Good post and good blog!

Great. Thanks again. By all means, you should keep putting time in on what you consider important.

I’ll keep working on connecting the dots that make for news, in this case the story of a law firm that defends terrorists for free even as it reneges on a deal with the House of Representatives, seemingly supported by Coca-Cola.

Since you obviously have taken the time to read the blog post article and view the video, did you have a comment that you wanted to make concerning the subject matter of the post?

Or, as usual just be a disruptive troll?

Did you have a comment to make regarding unnecessary excerpting to get blog hits?

Maybe about blogpimps using popular subjects to drive traffic to their blogs?

Possibly even about blogpimps using Free Republic as a free advertising platform?

Are you silent on these topics?

Because that’s what we’re looking at here.

And you can stick that “troll” crap in your tootie hole.

N00b.
