Levin Attacks Trump now, but used selective amnesia to shill for Romney

The greatest president in my lifetime was Ronald Reagan. I proudly voted for him twice. In 1980 and 1984, as just about 99% of those who voted for him, I was unaware he had been a Democrat (as I had been).

I was also unaware Reagan had been a union president, or as Governor of California, he signed the Therapeutic Abortion Act of 1967 and had contributed to Democrats. But so what?

By today’s standards, the SIX time union president Reagan would be a Democrat union “thug.” But who cares? None of this would have made the slightest bit of difference to me or and the legions of Reagan’s loyal supporters; nor should it have.

If we knew about these things we would have said, “That was then. This is now” saving the country is too important – we need a leader. History has proved us right about Ronald Reagan

These facts beg some questions about the conduct of Mark Levin who supported Reagan as a 19 year old.

Did Levin know about Reagan’s “dark” past? If so should it have made a difference to him? Was Mark’s political soul that pure? No one can say or even imply Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan are in anyway equal save for their undeniable love for America and ability to communicate, but people and politicians change. Levin doesn’t believe in Trump’s transformation, which is his right.

Nevertheless, why is Levin savaging Trump for “daring” to raise the questions a constitutionally grounded conservative should be asking? Cui bono; Mark? Who will you be shilling for this cycle? Mitt again?

Levin’s selective amnesia

he can’t “forgive” Trump’s “sins” or because he knows Trump will wipe the floor with his candidate: Mitt Romney?

Levin would be uniquely qualified to analyze this issue and put it to rest one way or another, or suggest what next steps need to be taken.

If I missed him doing so, I apologize. I don’t listen to him any more . . .

The country isn’t on the verge of collapse because of infrastructure projects. So what’s your point? How does this argue in favor of him being President?

I hear ya. Anymore he comes across to me as an a$$hole with a very short fuse, waiting to explode unless you agree with him 100%.

I am hoping to God we don’t end up with either of those two, don’t get me wrong. Except for those in IA, NH, and SC, even those of us in early states will have a much narrowed field before we vote. FL is pretty early, but we’ll basically have 2-3 realistic options by the time we get to vote.

So what’s your point?

I was responding to your stupid suggestion that there is something wrong with Trump because he doesn't invest his last $100 mil in startups.

I find it inspiring when he talks about this country and his belief in it. I heard him run through the litany of things now wrong here and then finish by saying, "America can be great again." I think he has a vision to make that happen, and that he's a guy who can make things happen.

I don't even agree with his vision; the protectionist part at least. But I am so willing to let a business guy try to lead the country. I'm so tired of politicians.

What color is Trump kool-aid again? Want to make sure I don’t spill any of it on me.

If you tend to like Trump more than you like Levin, you are no conservative.

America can’t be great again through the application of money and Trump’s personality. That seems to be what he is offering (our money, his personality).

I didn’t say there is something WRONG with him blowing $100 million of his own bucks on a gold encrusted Federal Feasting hall complete with marble vomitorium. Just that it doesn’t impress me.

The most disturbing aspect is that a man who has built his entire career on reverence for the constitutional rule of law wants us to ignore the constitutional fraud of the man in the Oval Office and, though clearly aware of the issue, doesn’t think it is worth pointing out.

A lot of conservative talk radio shilled for Romney when it was between him and McCain (too late IMO, as bad as Romney was/is he'd still have been better than McCain). Laura Ingraham introduced him at CPAC. Their support wasn't as much pro-Romney as it was anti-McCain.

The Levin bashing here is sad to see. I give Levin a pass on Romney. Romney was the least bad candidate in 2008. I certainly would have picked him over McCain or the Huckster.

Correct. Plus had we picked Romney in 2008, it wouldn't be "his turn" in 2012. The turn crap is a stupid system which gave us McLame, Bob Dole, Nixon and others. But it also gave us Ronald Reagan in 1980. And it could arguably give Sarah Palin a leg up in 2012 if she decides to run.

I give Levin a pass for the same reason I give Jim DeMint a pass-- the viable alternatives were even further left.

LOL. You’re right. And if entertainment was the main goal here, Jimmy Swaggart or one of the guys from Hope, Arkansas would do just fine.

So I see this comment above about Levin: “The most disturbing aspect is that a man who has built his entire career on reverence for the constitutional rule of law wants us to ignore the constitutional fraud of the man in the Oval Office and, though clearly aware of the issue, doesn’t think it is worth pointing out.”

Levin does not need to prove his conservative pro liberty cred to any birther. I am very interested in where Trump’s search for the BC leads. But man, some birthers give the whole movement an awful name. Self inflicted wounds.
