Chris Matthews welcomed Roger Simon and Michael Steele to his show to discuss the seriousness of Donald Trump as a potential presidential candidate and what his triumph might say about the Republican party. Simon suggested Trump’s early poll success is simply a result of celebrities doing well in politics, but warned Trump that New York celebrities aren’t as well liked across the country. Matthews disagreed, thinking Trump will have lasting appeal, especially with unsophisticated people.
Matthews also told Steele that he thinks Trump’s talk has changed the Republican party, suggesting:
“I think the Republican party . . . is not the George Will party of the cerebral, let’s look at the issues, reduce the deficit. It’s become – I’m not saying necessarily an ethnic party – but a kind of a crazy, tribalist, let’s get those people, we don’t like Obama, we’ll throw what we can at him. They’re so angry they don’t want to think.”
Steeele disputed that a majority of his party cares about the birth certificate and instead explained Trump’s popularity simply as a result of him being “exciting.” And in a final unrelated jab at Republicans, which was at least humorous for its randomness, Matthews joked with Steele that his rich Republican friends don’t want to hire people and would prefer to hire robots.

Memo to Matthews: We’re having an honest and spirited debate about whether or not Trump is a good candidate for our side. That’s how this works.
And for the record, most of us who don’t think he’s a good candidate for our side have thoroughly enjoyed the last three weeks anyway and are glad Trump is doing what he’s doing.
It’s good to see the insignificance of Matthews percolate to the top of the poo pile.
I am convinced that there is no one in christinlges life who cares enough to do an intervention on his behalf.

I sure hope that this is true! We really need to get away from the “George Will” party! I do call it other that that, but will be polite...
Chris, first, you’re still nuttier than squirrel poo and squirrellier than Gere poo.
Second, don’t confuse the Trump Fan Club with conservatives, let alone the GOP at large. They’re not the same thing.
We’ll see who has the last laugh Chrissy. This country is in a shambles and the people are waking up. As for the race card? Homey don’t play that any more. A bad president is a bad president. I don’t care what color he is.

Chris Mathews hasn’t got the sense God gave a Billy Goat and he knocks the mentality of people who are simply asking the fraud we have in the White house to show his Birth Certificate.

Matthews is full of shit. He believed that before Trump. Anyone remember him saying the same thing about Palin, Bachman etc. etc. etc.
