Trump’s presidential aspirations a joke (Ginormous retch warning)
The Santa Maria Times ^ | April 15, 2011 | Ann McFeatters

Posted on 04/15/2011 12:45:30 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I like what Bill Cosby said about the possibility that Donald Trump, he of the weirdly sculpted hair and preposterous views, might run for president: “I don’t care.”

But the fact that new polling of likely Republican primary voters finds the self-promoter tied with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (17 percent each) just behind former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (21 percent) on their wish list for the 2012 GOP nomination deserves some scrutiny.

It is tempting to say they’re all nuts. But the more likely rationale for anyone to say “I want Trump to be president of the country” is a huge amount of disgust and frustration with current leaders in Washington. And there’s the natural tendency of Republicans to lust after business people, such as Romney, even over-the-top real estate moguls, such as Trump, whose corporations file for bankruptcy, who routinely discard spouses (Trump’s on his third marriage) and who have no clue about serious national issues.

Trump’s insistence that he doubts that President Obama was born in the United States is proof positive he is not to be taken seriously. The canard that the president was not born in America has been debunked so decisively that Trump can only be called a liar who’s trying to seduce the fringe element of the tea partyers.

(“Birthers” are paranoid delusionals and conspiracy nuts who have no respect for truth in striving desperately to find excuses to hate the president. The state of Hawaii vouches for Obama’s birth and newspapers at the time duly recorded it. Trump’s claim that Obama’s step grandmother said she was present at Obama’s birth — in Kenya — has been thoroughly rejected. She allegedly said that to a translator on the telephone before she corrected herself to say Obama was born in Hawaii. This is truly one of the stupidest debates in U.S. history.)

No one has ever accused the bombastic Trump of being thoughtful. His foreign policy views are ridiculous, designed to appeal to know-nothings. He wants to shut U.S. borders. He does not want the United States involved in any way in the Middle East. He says South Korea does not help offset the cost of keeping 28,500 U.S. military personnel stationed there. (Politifact says that is not true; South Korea pays the U.S. hundreds of millions of dollars to defray the cost of keeping the peace on the Korean peninsula.)

Trump, who popularized the nasty “you’re fired” put-down, says he won’t say whether he’s running for president or not because if he decides to run, NBC would have to cancel his reality TV show and that wouldn’t be “fair” to the network.

In an era when economic and international crises erupt daily, demanding knowledge and careful analysis, Trump’s flagrant appropriation of the political climate for further self-aggrandizement is breathtakingly cynical. On the other hand, he’s perfect to reflect the childish display of ineptitude seen in Washington D.C. these days.

And then there’s the basic question of why any normal, sane human being would want to be president. Trump’s arrogant answer: “I will do the best job.” In truth, he is creating jobs — he sent “investigators” to Hawaii to search for Obama’s birth certificate (which Hawaii put online). Not surprisingly, the investigators report they have to stay a bit longer.

What Trump’s dramatic, implausible rise to near the top of the celebrity ladder on the road to the 2012 election really says is that the field is not settled. Once serious candidates start declaring, the Trump balloon will deflate faster than a news cycle.

Here’s a flat-out prediction. When we inaugurate a president on January 20, 2013, the raised hand taking the oath of office on the Capitol steps will not belong to Donald Trump.

Trump will still be on Celebrity Alley pushing his name and persona to promote yet another loony-tunes venture that mainly profits Trump. I, among many, won’t care.

Notice how many of her attacks on Mr. Trump work even better against Mr. Obama? Inept? Check! No clue about serious national issues? Check! Foreign policy views ridiculous? Check! Self-aggrandizement? Check!

She thinks he invented the phrase “You’re fired”? Wow, she never met my bosses!

She also has the worst and most sickening dig at me and my fellow conservatives. She says I “lust” for Mitt Romney. I almost lost my dinner.

Only if Trump succeeded in revealing Obama as a fraud would be succeed, since Trump, if successful, would be considered to be the savior of the nation. Only IF Trump reveals solid proof that Obama is a foreigner, would he have a chance.

Mr. Obama’s supposed father, Barack Hussein Muhammed Obama, Senior, was never an American citizen, therefore his son cannot be a natural born citizen and qualify for the office he now occupies.

Her piece did not have the desired response. If anything, her meme against the Tea Partiers shows her true Red colors. She's happily flying her "useful idiot" flag for everyone to see.

I'm not a fan of Donald, personally. Don't really care for how he has lived his personal life. But if the choice were between Bambi and Trump, I would crawl over broken glass for Trump, because the current President's teleprompter is actually smarter than the fool reading from it.

Mitt Romney will never get my vote. He's an establishment candidate. I really like Colonel Allen West or Herman Cain. Those are candidates I could get truly excited about because they are the complete package.

Frankly I agree. The Donald is a self promoter. He’s taken an issue ( O’s birth cert) that resonates with a lot of Republican voters and he’s exploiting it for attention. Based on what’s being reported today about his comments regarding Bush I would say the Donald will spout whatever gets him in the headlines. Hopefully the fool will not run as an independent in 2012. That could hand the election to O on a silver platter.

Trump a Conservative? I just don’t know. He’s a New York Republican at best. BUT, He is a capitalist—he is dead set against the Neo-Soviet group running things today. They get the birth Cer. Wrong—Its not really about where he was born as it is other things that has Obama fighting to keep it secret—There is something there that will hurt Obama. His school records, Social Security Records, Draft Records—maybe criminal records need to be unearthed. Something stinks in this and if Donald finds it and exposes it—he should be president( or maybe VP under Sarah Palin). Lets see how he does on the stump—lets hear him in debate—he will make mincemeat out of Huckleberry, and Rommey—Newt G. could hold his own against the Donald. Great TV if nothing else.

Here are some of the problems that a few influential Republicans have with Donald Trump (along with his comments about eliminating the Dept. of Education and building up our military forces).

But those globalist/government-dependent, favored constituents are destroying our economy and nation with their political control, bandwagon approach for closet commies (CFR members and fans) and defamations against truer conservatives.

Either way, I’ll get what I want. We’ll see a pro-American president for a change, or we’ll assume our positions in new leadership after the default caused by those collaborators with foreign communists and their government-employed relatives.

BUT, He is a capitalist

Don't corrupt the term "capitalist".

Trump is, at best, a crony-capitalist of the big-government-loving, elite-influence-wielding type we already have too many of. He's certainly better than Obama in that regard, but that's not saying much.

RINOS will pick another RINO. This one will mince around as usual.
Trumps runs as this cycle’s Ross Perot.
The Right/Conservative vote is split. Again.
Say hello, again, to our Kenyan POTUS.

The only thing I see as different this time from the Perot run, is this time if the RINO’s pick a RINO, this Tea Party member will not hang his hat on the GOP like I did for Bush Sr. or Dole. I will cross over and vote for Trump, and concentrate on filling the Senate with all the Tea Party candidates available.
With Congress in the hands of the Tea Party we can somewhat steer the Donald in the direction we want him.
This is worst case, if it plays out this way, but as much as I want a Conservative President, I want a Tea Party influenced Congress more.
JMHO
