Newsflash: Ann Coulter has her own opinions. You, and I, may disagree with some of those opinions but those opinions are her’s. I realize that having a differing opinion is taboo to many at FR, but alas, that won’t change the fact that some people just don’t see things your way.

On the birther thing - I consider myself somewhat agnostic on that question, but I’m still confused as to why it’s thought that “birth certificate” and “certificate of live birth” are somehow two different things. “Certificate of live birth” just sounds to me like an official/pretentious way of saying “birth certificate.”
As for Christie - I’m not sure she’s right about her statement (especially the Romney part), but polling this far out has zero relevance. Zero.
I don’t know what happened to her. She went around the bend earlier this year, and hasn’t been the same since.
The last straw for me was when she came out strongly in favor of GOPround and the fudge packers. But there have been other egregious comments, too.
Ann is extremely intelligent and has written some wonderful stuff over the years. And she has been a good friend of FreeRepublic. Frankly, I find all this just mystifying. It goes against most of what she has said earlier, and I don’t see how it is likely to pay off for her, either. She is never going to build a following among the liberals, so what on earth is she thinking?
I really don’t know. Sad, because she is a great stylist, very smart on legal matters, and an old friend of FR.
