Time Magazine Editor: Burning the Koran is Worse than Burning the Bible

WORLD EDITOR DISPLAYS HIS IGNORANCE OF CHRISTIANITY -

According to Time Magazine editor Bobby Ghosh, burning the Koran is “much more inflammatory than burning a Bible” because the Koran comes directly from God and the Bible doesn’t.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Hardball, (where else?) Ghosh continued to display his ignorance of Christianity:

“The Bible is a book written by men. It is acknowledged by Christians that it is written by men. It’s the story of Jesus.”

“If you’re a Muslim, the Koran is directly the word of God, not written by man. It is transcribed, it is directly the word of God.” (Transcribed by whom, Mr. Ghosh?)

“That makes it sacred in a way that’s hard to understand if you’re not Muslim. So the act of burning a Koran is much more — potentially much, much more inflammatory than if you were to burn a Bible. You are directly attacking God.”

So did the Rat miss something as a young lad in Sunday School? He was led to believe that the Bible was the “Word of God.” Come to think of it, he’s still being led to believe that the Bible is the Word of God.

Is Time’s world editor that ignorant of Christianity, or is he something worse? Many of the left-wing loons who preach tolerance and understanding of all things Islam aren’t quite so tolerant and understanding of anything Christian. Public schools are prohibited from allowing silent prayer, while many of them offer Muslim courses to promote acceptance and amity of Islam.

Does this means that Ghosh believes the savage murder of innocent people in response to the burning of a Koran is a normal reaction by Muslims? I hope not. Does he believe that the “superiority” of the Koran in respect to the “Word of God,” might just give Muslims a tad bit more justification in their brutal acts of retribution than would be the case for Christians? It sure sounds like it.

While pastor Terry Jones certainly has the right to burn whatever he wishes to burn – including the Bible, and the American flag for that matter – he’s guilty of confusing “the right” to give followers of the “peaceful” religion an excuse to murder innocents with the RESPONSIBILITY not to do so. Terry Jones has blood on his hands as well.

The Rat wonders how Pakistan could condemn the intolerance of the pastor on one hand while sentencing a Christian woman to death on the other. Rat will have to look that up in the Koran.

I suspect that freely expressing my viewpoint on religious matters wouldn’t be very good for my health in Iran, Afghanistan, or any number of other Muslim-dominated countries.

Your atheism would not be much help either. I don't want to kill you. I hope you would see the light, but it has to be of your own freewill. There's the glaring difference.

If the burning of the word of God is punishable, let God do the punishing, he doesn’t need man for that. Books are books, they are words printed on paper “by Man”. If God wanted to write he/she would have written it in the sky for all to see in one language understood by all.

Religious fanatics are not religious, they are evil. We are a world of Good and Evil, good and evil will battle for as long as man exists. The Evil ones will incite those who lack knowledge, to do it’s bidding. No Devils no Gods just evil doers and good men who allow them to have that power. When will we ever Learn, when will we ever learn. :o(

Allowing Islam into America is akin to injecting yourself with AIDS to prove how tolerant you are of queers.

Terry Jones has NO blood on his hands. He’s exercising his right of free speech and damn all politicians who would condemn and American for exercising his right of free speech. If we’re at war to “defend our values” then we should be bombing the hell out of any barbarians who murder in reaction to what goes on here. Either conquer that hellhole, level it and leave it an empty wasteland or leave. I say level it as an example to the rest and they will get in line.

This began well but fell off a cliff.

“[The pastor’s] guilty of confusing “the right” to give followers of the “peaceful” religion an excuse to murder innocents with the RESPONSIBILITY not to do so. Terry Jones has blood on his hands as well.”

My, my. What an argument! How compelling! If that logic holds (and it doesn’t), then where are all the media hounds arguing that women who have the right to an abortion shouldn’t confuse it with the responsibility NOT to. Rights (granted by God, not just law), by their very nature, should never conflict with responsibilities nor, for that matter, vice-versa.

On another level, it is the responsibility of Christians—never mind actual Christian pastors—to admonish sinners, instruct the ignorant. That’s the pastor’s JOB. The only way we get to the tacky reasoning exhibited by this writer is situational ethics. Pastor Jones’ activity, whether well or ill meant, has nothing whatsoever to do with the EFFECT it had. Situational ethics would have us believe that the old story about Galahad is wrong-headed: Galahad is told that the life of a maiden will be spared if he commits a certain sin. Does he have the responsibility of saving the maiden? No. He is responsible for his own action, his own soul, not to sin. He’s not responsible for saving the life of the maiden; and Pastor Jones is not resonsible for the lives of innocents taken by the savages Pastor Jones attempted to admonish.

I never thought I’d say it, but I’m ashamed of Gen. Petraeus. What’s wrong with our heroes today? If we can’t fight a war without bowing to the enemy on something as basic as THEIR FAILINGS and cultural inadequacies, why are we fighting at all? Is it all wrapped up in how they treat women?

The glaring difference here is that God from the Bible wants you to submit to the Lord of your own free will, whereas, in the Koran, you simply have no choice. You either submit or you are an infidel who can be killed by followers of Islam. In Christianity, it is God who will decide your fate, not men.

If anything, I hope he has a long life. I don't know how old you are Abin Sur, but as we get older sometimes we have an epiphany. As Soldier Dad says, we can't force you, and don't want to.
