We don’t live in a communist country where jobs are assigned according to intellect or bulk. Police and firefighters weren’t drafted. If you chose to be one, I applaud you but that being said, that doesn’t mean you get to tell us how much you get paid because you chose a job that potentially puts your life in peril. If it’s not worth the risk, I wouldn’t blame you at all if you walked, but this job safety-guilt trip sh-- is starting to fall on deaf ears.

In light of all this, one has to think that may be a more viable option in many cases.
I can see that in a big city or large community, with office buildings and hospitals, that would not work due to the training and complexity of fighting fires in those environments.
Because I live paycheck to paycheck. I save up money to donate to FR for each quarter.
I certainly do not want to promise something I may not be able to give.
I have the same problem, what with paying for college and only having a part-time job. I can’t afford to give monthly either, though I do give for Freepathons. :-)
We are off the subject of what is the important thing, the content of the linked blog.
I understand the way some folks feel about this (and the validity therof) but I think it is important enough to let it pass.

I don’t see any harm in bringing the Conservative voice to as many people as I, 1 little nothing, can bring forward.

I know I have stated I support other blogs; however, FR is 1st in line.

If you're here to be a "hero", then FR is probably not the site for you.
If it was posted without requiring a trip to a MySpace page I would read and discuss it.
But it wasn't, it was pimped for hits so it is worthless.

You are right, in large cities a strickly volunteer fire department would not work. But I wonder if in big cities they would even allow volunteers with experience to assist..
