The Left’s Obsession with Fox News
The Constitution Club ^ | 02-23-11 | Region Rat

FOX NEWS. Why are you liberals so obsessed with it? Let’s set aside the fact that the other 24-hour news channels have a liberal bias while Fox pundits lean to the right for a minute; I understand the politics. What I want to know is, why is Fox News the devil incarnate to you people while the other networks are just “opinionated?”

I watched a clip last night of an overly crazed liberal screaming “FOX LIES!” over and over at the top of his lungs. As is usually the case, when asked for an example, he had nothing. He wouldn’t even stop screaming long enough to give it a shot.

Here’s another question: Have any of you actually watched Fox News enough to have an informed opinion or are you just parroting what you hear from the likes of Keith Olbermann and Bill Maher? My experience with liberals suggests the latter. Lots of hemming and hawing when I ask for examples. Many of you tell me you watch Fox, but I have my doubts.

One more question: Why do you assume that conservatives are mindless programmed followers of Fox News? Most conservatives I know are pretty well-read people. We’re also exposed to your side of the issues on the evil network on a daily basis.

As much as you detest Bill O’Reilly, I challenge you to give me an example of one program on another network that provides the same amount balance of opinion and panelists as is the case on The Factor every night. You might also check out Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. Once again, you’ll see a balanced debate on the issues. No name calling, condescension or character assassination. You might actually find that refreshing for a change.

While I eagerly await your responses, here’s my assessment of your obsession. It boils down to two things: Organizations like MSNBC and Media Matters do what they do for ratings and website traffic. (Check out Media Matters here for wall-to-wall Fox bashing, it’s hysterical.) I know what you’re thinking; your pundits on MSNBC are lucky if they get 20% of the audience The Factor enjoys, so how could ratings have anything to do with it? Simple: while you guys watch your pals in much smaller numbers than we do, you are a rabidly loyal, predictable audience. Liberals love preaching to the choir.

The second reason is just as obvious. As is usually the case with the left, it’s much easier to attack those who disagree with your ideology than it is to have a level-headed, substantive debate on the issues. After all, liberalism is in large part defined by emotionalism. There is also a degree of hypocritical condescension among your elites. If we don’t agree with you, we’re stupid. So be it.

While your attacks on all things Fox are predictable and do get a bit boring from time to time, I urge you to keep it coming. It makes for great blogging content, as well as a good laugh here and there.

I saw the nut screaming “FOX LIES!” over and over at a FOX reporter. People like him never realize how crazy they look to 98% of the public. The leftists are too stupid to understand that FOX differentiates between hard news and conservative commentary, since the rest of the MSM mixes their leftist bias into their “news” coverage.

The FOX journalist condemned them in his report?

If so he should't have.

It did appear they were lying in their Egypt coverage, but so were all the rest of them

Why not? Are you in favor of doctors breaking the law? BTW, the reporter didn’t “condemn” them, just expose their fraud.

My bad. He 'reported' their unethical behavior.

I saw a snippet of Fox News today covering the Wisconsin matter and felt they had gone RINO.
I don’t watch much cable news anymore than I have to now.

Did you mean to post to someone else?

I simply said reporters should stick to all relevant facts when presenting a report.

Leave the condemnation for the opinion shows.

They had the same reaction to Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay...pretty much anybody who doesn’t agree with them and yet is effective.

The left fails in defending their ideas. They have no facts to support what they believe, so, they must demonize the opposition. The days of having only one mindset tell us what THEY think the news should be are over. This, more than anything else, is destroying the left.

...there is less and less evidence these days that Fox News is "conservative".

In comparison to the other networks it looks that way. Fox still presents the conservative side of arguments fairly, while the others lie about them. Fox never claimed to be conservative, just "fair and balanced".

As far as BO'R goes, he's bending over backward to be "fair" to the left, and that ain't good! But I haven't caught him being unfair to our side.

I just watched Shep Smith do one of his rants against conservatives. I was so upset, I fired off the following letter to Fox, although I'm sure nothing will happen.

I just watched "The Fox Report" as Shepard Smith proceed to tell us "the truth" about the situation in Wisconsin.

He claimed that Wisconsin doesn't have a budget problem and that the whole crisis is purely political. He stated that the entire situation was conceived by the GOP as a way to "get rid of the unions" since they contribute heavily to the Democrats.

Then he had the audacity to state that he "wasn't taking sides".....but was only "telling people the truth, which some people don't want to hear."

Excuse me, but whatever happened to the notion of "fair and balanced?" Not only that, but Mr. Smith is supposed to report the news, unlike O'Reilly or Hannity or Beck who are all labeled as commentary hosts. Perhaps you should explain the difference to Mr. Smith as he is obviously confused.

My jaw dropped when Juan Williams, to whom he was espousing his leftist views, had to put in a few words "in fairness" to the other side. When a former commentator for NPR has to stick up for conservatives because the supposedly unbiased host has let his contempt for the GOP be known....well, that's a truly laughable moment.

Mr. Smith would obviously be much happier on MSNBC or CNN. For that reason, I usually watch his show with the SOUND TURNED OFF, since this is not the first time he's let his feelings be known. However, more and more I find myself switching off Fox News altogether since it is slowly becoming just like the competition, which is unabashedly liberal.

Apparently Fox News no longer feels they need conservative viewers as they continue to keep Mr. Smith on the air where he feels free to express his contemptuous opinions of us. It's your prerogative to hire whoever you want, and it's mine to stop watching you.
