Donald Trump as President? What about the “Gravitas”?

I remember Karl Rove or some other such RINO sell out making the point that in doing the TV show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”, Mrs Palin had put her ability to win the Presidency further in doubt because it somehow diminished her “gravitas”, evidently an important component in becoming a President.

I would have thought if gravitas was a serious issue, the last person we’d be thinking of as President would be Donald Trump. He walks around looking like he’s got a bleached animal’s carcass on his head. He was patron and star of a silly reality show that IMHO has a threshold of dignity far below that of Sarah Palin’s Alaska. He has also made appearances as a caricatured version of himself in television series and films- Home Alone 2, Lost in New York, The Nanny, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Days of our Lives. Mostly the worst kind of trashy entertainment.

Trump is a known World Wrestling Entertainment fan. He has hosted two WrestleMania events in the Trump Plaza and has been an active participant in several of the shows. World Wrestling is well known for its gravitas.

You can criticize him for advocating universal coverage. But the system he describes, the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, would be light years better than the command-and-control system rammed through by Democrats. Unlike the Dem’s plan, in which a federal bureaucrat determines the 4 “flavors” of health benefits that you’re allowed to have, FEHBP has no “standardized” plan design. So Federal employees can select anything ranging from a very comprehensive benefits plan (that costs a lot) to a much more affordable high deductible catastrophic plan.

FEHBP has a better track record than Medicare in holding down the rate of growth in health spending and offers far more choice than nearly any private plan in the country. And unlike Medicare, which requires an entire agency with thousands of employees to run it, FEHBP is run with a very small administrative staff.

If we ran Medicare like we did FEHBP, the Medicare entitlements crisis would largely disappear.

I got it off Wikipedia. Its actually quite difficult to find information clearly defining where he stands on any particular issue. Lot of conflicting stuff out there. I’d say this is probably because he doesn’t have much of an idea himself.

Yes, most likely, but the point of the post was that people are gushing over Trump at the same times as they criticise Sarah for lacking “gravitas”. The bias is the real issue. Another example of using a different standard where Palin is concerned.

Palin is now in a class all her own. You will never get people that want to destroy her to admit they are being unfair. It is those that have morality that have the presupposition that people will be fair. Those that hate Palin will never be. She knows this, she is getting stronger daily with every attack. Soon she will pop out on top and every attack will just be pitiful and useless. The left knows this, that is why they are trying to take her out at this point.

I find it gob smacking that people who say that Sarah Palin lacks gravitas or is “unqualified” to be President are prepared to gush over the Donald.

Are you serious? Who on Earth is "prepared to gush over The Donald", besides The Donald himself?

Not even Trump himself takes the possibility of actually being President seriously.

Running for President is, however, a clever way to “boost the Trump brand" (the objective that Trump thinks about 24/7) and yield more money for Trump down the road.
