Richard Cohen: Marine Corps commandant has to go [Velvet Mafia out for blood]
The Washington Post ^ | December 20, 2010 | Richard Cohen

I am a fan of the old World War II movies, the ones where the platoon was composed of typical Americans, Hollywood-style. There was a guy named Farmer and one called Preacher and another called Brooklyn (who was killed shortly after receiving a salami from home), no blacks and, of course, an officer who was good-looking and clearly a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant of the John Wayne variety. Now, of course, we would have to add a gay soldier. I fear for him. He'll need someone to watch his back.

The repeal of the odious "don't ask, don't tell" law has been 17 years in the making. It could have been done much sooner had it not been for the political cowardice and/or ignorance of much of Congress and some of the military. The nation as a whole was way out in front of these institutions, having learned from their own kids and society in general that gays and lesbians were not drooling perverts but human beings with a different - not better and not worse - sexuality. Most of us know this now.

There's good reason to believe, however, that this lesson has not been universally learned. In the run-up to the vote in the Senate, Gen. James Amos, the Marine Corps commandant, showed how he felt about the prospect of open homosexuals serving in the Marines. He was particularly concerned about combat situations where, he thought, gays might be "a distraction." "Mistakes and inattention or distractions cost Marines' lives," Amos said. This was not the first time the general had expressed his doubts. Earlier, he had talked about what might happen when his Marines were "laying out, sleeping alongside of one another and sharing death, fear and loss of brothers....

Amos has absolutely no choice but to implement the program.

Yes, and with alacrity! /sarc

No choice? I can't think of one moment in my life when I had "no choice". Even at gunpoint you have a choice.

Don't believe those who are telling you he is going to furtively sabotage the program. He has bought into the cultural change meme hook, line, and sabot.

In your view, he was supposed to ‘block the schoolhouse door?’ He’s a Marine. He’s an officer. He’s the freakin’ commandant. His job entails, like all soldiers, sailors, marines, following orders. The U.S. armed forces are under civilian command. No one says he has to like the orders, but he MUST follow them, and as Commandant, he must lead.

So the old faggot Cohen weighs in (yawn).

"...that gays and lesbians were not drooling perverts but human beings with a different - not better and not worse - sexuality."

Homosexuality is automatically worse. The whole purpose of sexuality is procreation and a family to support the offspring. Can’t do it with two innies or two outies.

That, doesn’t go there...

There is a reason that homosexuality has creeped out normal humans throughout history, and why normal humans will ALWAYS be creeped out by homosexuality. All the brainwashing in the world by the government schools has come to naught. When kids across the nation comment, “That’s so gay,” they do NOT mean it as a compliment.

In reality it would be nice to a large number of high ranking officers hand in their resignations in protest and then enlistments plunder to record lows as a result of DADT.

Here’s where the law of unintended consequences kicks in. To fully “integrate” the homosexuals into the military - the few that survive boot camp - significant revisions to the UCMJ will have to be made.

Article 125 - Sodomy will have to be deleted. Article 120 - Rape - will have to include homosexual rape. Consequently, Article 133 - Conduct unbecoming and Article 134 - the gotcha article - will be challenged so as to specifically exclude adultery and fraternization. None of this is conducive to “good order and discipline of the armed forces”.

Even when they “win,” they still want retribution.

Haven’t seen UCMJ in about 40 years. It used to add “Any penetration, however slight is enough to constitute an offense’.

Gen. James Amos was honest. There will be problems and those problems will be disproportionate to the numbers of Gays in the services, let alone the Marine Corps.

Eventually some estimates will be made of how many Gays are serving and I bet it turns out to be relatively few.

"Even when they “win,” they still want retribution."

Especially when they win, they want retribution. Thus has it always been with the left. Every one of their succesful revolutions (micro or macro) has been followed up with purges, *truth* commissions, mass incarcerations, etc.

Agree completely. It’s not normative in any sense of the word, and I still want to know why homosexuals deserve toleration but pedophiles don’t, when neither can explain why they behave the way we do.

I reject the idea of ‘consent’ being the reason why one deserves ‘toleration’ and the other doesn’t.

Frankly, both homosexuals and pedophiles frame the argument in terms of ‘God made me who I am.’

Since there has been a complete politicization of the study of the causes of homosexuality, or its linkage to other behavioral abnormalities, the only basis we can discuss this on is a ‘moral’ one.

My answer to this is that no major religion (besides some sects of Christianity like Lutheranism, Episcopalianism, and others) believes homosexuality is in harmony with either nature or godly living.

I bet they’ll impose an ‘Affirmative Action’ quota system where a certain number of high ranking officers have to be gay.

gays and lesbians were not drooling perverts but human beings with a different - not better and not worse - sexuality.

If I remember correctly: John Wayne Gacy, Patrick Kearney, Bruce Davis and Dean Corll, Aurthur Gary Bishop; these perpetrators of serial crimes in the 1970s and 1980s engaged in homosexuality, and the majority of the victims were boys. http://www.adherents.com/misc/hsk.html
