“A dog is a man’s best friend,” is one of the most common sayings that all the pet dog owners would agree with. The sole reason for this is that dogs can be loyal and well trained to be kept with you as family. In a recent survey carried out it has been proved that nearly 40 percent of people treat their pet dogs as their kids.
A person can learn many things from a dog. Dogs will teach you how to live each day with joy and unbridled exuberance, they will tell you how to seize the moment and always follow your heart. Dogs will teach you how to enjoy simple things in life, like walking in the woods, a snowfall, nap under the shaft in winter sunlight. Therefore, it is said that dogs are your best family friends, because they will teach you about selflessness, friendship and unwavering loyalty. Whenever you look back at your dog, you will be amazed to know that your dog has a good secret of life. That is never to slow down, not look back, and live everyday like adolescent spunk and verve with curiosity and playfulness.
Dogs are your best family friends and humans belong in a special breed for owning dogs. They are known to have generous spirit, full of empathy, they are more prone to sentimentality and have big hearts as cloudless skies. But owning a dog always means that it would end in sadness because they don’t live as long as you do.
A dog will have no use of designer clothes or fancy cars. Status symbol will never mean anything to them. A waterlogged stick will work just fine with them. A dog will never judge you with creed, class or color but for you are from inside. A dog will never care if you are educated, illiterate, poor, dull or clever. Just give him your heart and he will give you his. It is very simple, yet humans, so much more sophisticated and wiser, have so much trouble in understanding what counts and what does not. Sometimes a dog with worse manners, pure intentions and love will help us see the reality.
A proper dog will attack an surprise intruder before you can even get out of the chair, without regard to its own safety, giving you enough time to get the 12 gauge.
I was going through the terrible “empty nest” blues recently. A friend of a friend contacted me about taking a 9 year old “rescued dog” (miniature schnauzer named “Bevo”) I did and am so glad. He’s my little side kick and whines terribly when I’m out of his eyesight. I’m already VERY attached, although I do have to remind myself he’s just a dog and not my kiddo! Oh, and who says dogs don’t need designer clothes??? I’ve officially been banned by Mr. Grumpybutt from shopping at Petco alone LOL
So true SimTech - I was amazed at how quickly Bevo took to me and “defends” me.... the first time Bevo saw hubby come home from work and give me his usual kiss and hug and pat on the back my little warrior went nuts! He’s since learned hubby is not a threat and now patiently waits his “turn”.
My dog taught me how to retain the good spot on the couch or take up most of the bed by going completely limp :).

Yep. The best way to get over it is a replacement. I’m convinced that we project a lot of human traits on dogs that they really don’t possess. This gives us comfort and pleasure. While we get very attached to the vessel we project feelings into, in reality, one works just about as good as another. So when you lose one, give it a few days, weeks if you must, and get another.
Now that is a precious little guy! :-)

The dog is arguably the best work Man ever did, and should be exempt from the can’t-take-it-with-you rule. They’d fit right in Heaven.
Should be sharp as a tack - hopefully the Sheltie will take the obsessive-compulsive edge off the Border Collie!

I have a choc lab that is my bud. Great dogs, very high energy. Mine loves water.
I can’t imagine life without a dog. The only real unconditional love there is in this world.
Our critters have their own doggie door so they can go in and out whenever they want and we left them alone for hours yesterday and when we came home, husband's pillow was outdoors. That seems to be what Darren does when he gets left.
We also have a darling Springer Spaniel so Darren has company but that isnt' good enough--he wants his master and he wants him all the time.
Except for the love of a cat (sleeping on my feet).

You people are gonna drive me right to the animal shelter some day!
