Yep. The best way to get over it is a replacement. I’m convinced that we project a lot of human traits on dogs that they really don’t possess. This gives us comfort and pleasure. While we get very attached to the vessel we project feelings into, in reality, one works just about as good as another. So when you lose one, give it a few days, weeks if you must, and get another.
I agree with almost everything you said, except the word “replacement”.
The one you lose is never replaced, you just expand your heart a little to take in the new one. :)
