More than 609,000 jobs disappeared during Gov. Granholm's eight years in office, and Michigan lead the country with the highest unemployment rate for 49 months. Now, she is giving advice to the country … about how to create jobs.
Granholm served as a guest op-ed writer for the national news site POLITICO. Saying the nation needs a "moon shot" jobs strategy to create 3 million new jobs, she used as an example Michigan government's recent bet that the lithium-ion battery industry should be cultivated with special treatment and favors from state government.
Granholm wrote: "If the states are the laboratories of democracy, Washington can take a lesson from what is happening in Michigan."
But other national experts question whether Granholm is the one to be offering advice on job creation.
"In 2006, Gov. Granholm told the state of Michigan that it would be 'blown away by the strength and diversity of Michigan's transformed economy.' Unemployment in Michigan has since jumped from 6.8 percent to almost 13 percent," wrote Tad DeHaven, budget analyst for the Cato Institute, in an e-mail. "So it's bizarre that she would now write an op-ed entitled 'How to Win the Race for Jobs.' Granholm says that the solution for the country's economic problems is more government subsidies and industrial planning. This is a recipe for failure — a word that also sums up her tenure as governor."

She’s importing prison inmates from California with no clear idea of how California will pay us for them. It does keep unneeded union prison guards on the payroll.

Her “solution” is for government to tinker and meddle in an effort to entice the creation of preferred kinds of businesses. It doesn’t occur to these leftists that, if left to themselves, there are plenty of people who will put together their own plans and businesses. Some - most - will fail but some will succeed. And the ones who fail oftimes come back and try something new and then succeed. Leftists simply do NOT believe in liberty and equality of opportunity. They insist on trying to force matters to create circumstances more to their liking and never give thought to the possibility that their “dream” may well be a nightmare for others.
The only thing she could possibly come up with would be a 'moon bat' jobs strategy.

Yea, if that idiot knew anything about governing, ecomomics and creating jobs, I wouldn’t be typing this from 600 miles away form my former home in Michigan. I wouldn’t have been unemployed for 6 months from a 20 year career, I wouldn’t have had to leave my family for 8 months, I wouldn’t have had to sell my house at a loss, I wouldn’t have had to buy a new smaller and more expensive house, I wouldn’t have to find all new church, friends etc.
She is such a complete waste of oxygen.
I had heard that the EPA forbids the manufacture of Lithium Polymer batteries here in the US. Anybody know if that’s true?
