Bronco head coach Josh McDaniels fired late this afternoon ... didn't make it thru his second NFL season.
At that point still had most of Shanahan's team. Especially on defense. Further, most opponent coach's hadn't figured him out at that point ... that quickly changed when they came to the conclusion McDaniels was really just another 'Johnny one note'. After that he was out coached bigtime.
He needs to be playing more. Right now, he's only started 6 times and racked up a total of three yards and all three of those yards were passing yards.
I’m thinking the owner would have a hard time firing him “for cause” after that taping incident unless he had fired him right after the whole story surfaced.
Yeah, but he also has a TD in those 3 yards!
yes
At least he didn't wait till the end of the season. Mid season firing for cause, and Bowlen certainly can make a strong case ... will stand up, if Bowlen walks away from McDaniels contract with a 'so sue me' attitude.
The Bears definitely got the better of that deal.
Cutlers poor past performance for the Bears was mostly due to the Bears pathetic offensive front line and offensive coordinator which resulted in Cutler running for his life almost every play.
Now that the bears have finally replaced most of that front line and finally got a decent coordinator Cutler is doing MUCH better as evidenced by his throwing for 4 TDs in the Bears victory against the Eagles and the Bears overall better record this year.
Meanwhile, Kyle Orton who was traded away from the Bears has been doing poorly and sitting most of the time. I THINK I read that he has either been traded away or is the subject of trade rumors.
You aren't paying attention ... fact is, for what it's worth, Kyle Orton is having a great year in terms of QB statistics ... he might even make the pro-bowl. Problem is QB statistics are pretty much worthless when you're playing for a pathetic NFL team.
Orton is not a bad quarterback although I'd rather have Cutler, personality issues and all.
Is Steve Tensi available?
He didn't care about Cutler who was doing very well for the team, he simply wanted his own man regardless of who the current quarterback was or how well he was doing.
His intention was to make Cassel the starting quarterback no matter what.
I fully understand Cutler's feelings in that he believed that he was going to the bench and the only way he would get to play was if Cassel was injured.
It wouldn't matter how good he was or how well he played, McDaniels had already made up his mind most likely before even being hired.
