Consider this a sneak preview of some really HILARIOUS DUmmie threads soon to come. Why? Because the DUmmies are in a RAGE over the possibility that Obama might temporarily extend the Bush "Tax Cuts." I put that in quotes because no taxes would be cut. All that happens is that the current taxes remain the same. However, the DUmmies have bought into the class warfare rhetoric about "tax cuts for the RICHHHHHH!!!" They have really worked themselves into a lather over this possibility which is why this THREAD, "Looks like Obama has compromised with the Republicans and has agreed to extend tax cuts for the rich," is so FUnnie! So let us watch the DUmmies work up a rabid foam over the "tax cuts" in Bolshevik Red while the the commentary of your humble correspondent, noting that if you think the DUmmies are angry now then just wait until the extension actually happens, is in the [barackets]:

Obama will likely compromise with the Republicans and settle for a 2-3 year extension of tax cuts for the wealthy. Republicans seemed pretty pleased with the talks they had with Obama.

I hope that is not the case. I've stood by and stood up for Obama for...a long time. If he caves on Taxes for the Rich, He's lost me...

I hate to say this, but he is losing me. When is he going to finally realize that compromise with the repukes "ain't" gonna happen? I agree with you, BlueJazz, if he caves on the tax issue for the rich, I'm gone.

Howard Fineman said it was table talk around DC; something everyone knows. In spite of all the disappointments, I was sure Obama would hold the line on tax cuts. I wrote to my Rep and both Senators urging them to hold fast on the tax cuts. I feel like we've been sold out, lock, stock and barrel

If he caves on tax cuts for the rich, that's it. I expected someone who would fight for me, not a coward who caves at the first sign of trouble. He's simply not tough enough to be President.

I have never threatened to walk away from Obama, but this is a HUGE test for me, extending the tax cuts does nothing except legitimizing trickle down economics. In reality it is a farce and any extension would be a farce. I have very few "lines in the sand," this is one.

If President Obama does this I will NOT vote for him again...I will leave the ballot blank

He compromised a week before they went into the meeting. The man will fight for nothing. He should call their bluff. Let all the cuts expire. And tell the American people that the reasons their taxes went up, is because the Republicans were holding them hostage for their rich friend's ransom. Scream it every day. Every Democrat scream it every day. But, that would require making a stand.

If you don’t have a job, higher taxes don’t bother you.
And lefties are stuck on envy. It isn’t even that they want what others have - lots of times I’ve seen them throw up their hands and say, “Oh well, There’s just no way”, but that doesn’t stop them from wanting to deny others the fruits of their labors.

In defense of Obama
That letter writer who called me un-American, unchristian, and unwhatever else, the one who said he’d never write my name again, proved correct in his predictions regarding this past election. That man and his thimble-minded constituents did the bidding of the large corporations and defeated many of those who supported President Barack Obama’s agenda.
These thimble minds did the bidding of the same corporations who took our jobs overseas and who further reduced the U.S. workforce by hiring foreigners to answer calls about our utilities, our insurance, and other calls that were once answered by U.S. workers.
The self-anointed soothsayers accusing the 44th president of the United States of being Muslim and not being born in the United States should use their do-nothing time to support our president, who is brilliant, compassionate and beloved by the world leaders — except, of course, by the thimble-minded.
Other countries have surpassed us in education, health care, solar energy, etc. Obama has the blueprint to lead us out of this quagmire. Though I doubt he can walk on water, he’s the closest thing we’ll get for this uphill journey of playing catch-up.

Liberals don’t understand why raising taxes on the rich might not be popular as they think.
I have a friend who teaches piano. Most of her clientele are the children of rich people. If rich people have to pay more taxes, they will cut back somewhere. “Susie, you can’t have both piano and horse riding lessons. Pick one.”
People who work for the government or academia may not fully understand this.
