Critics on Both Sides Be Damned: Run, Sarah
Pajamas Media ^ | November 26, 2010 | Pam Meister

Love her or hate her, Sarah Palin has, within the past couple of years, become an American institution. All the former Alaskan governor has to do is post something on Facebook or give a “shout-out” on Twitter and both pundits and everyday Americans on both sides of the aisle are either singing her praises or talking about what a dumb hick she is who has no business breathing, let alone commenting on the news of the day.

The big question, of course, is whether Palin should run for president in 2012. Here are just a few reasons why a Palin run makes sense:

Good thread about election ‘10 breakdown:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2633094/posts?page=10

What Voters Actually Said on Election Day

New Hampshire voters, who vote in the first presidential primary, answered questions about two possible GOP candidates. Forty percent of voters in the Senate exit poll had a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin, while 56 percent had an unfavorable one. Those responses for Mitt Romney were 47 and 46 percent, respectively.

In Iowa, an early caucus state, 41 percent in the Senate exit poll had a favorable opinion of Palin, and 54 percent an unfavorable one. For Romney, those responses were 37 and 45 percent, respectively.

Sarah needs to nail down what’s behind the unfavorables. Otherwise rats will rape us with Romney like they did with McCain.

Childish like that post.

Who do the voices tell you is the safe bet to become that President?

If she was anointed by McCain, the very epitome of RINOs that have ruined the country hand-in-hand with the Dems, what makes us think that Palin is actually the “outsider” that will ...

Palin was chosen by McCain, because he needed someone with the freshness and dynamism to liven up his campaign. She was also chosen precisely because of her strongly conservative credentials (which she earned, stripe by stripe in Alaska).

As to the three points of your question;

1) It'll take more than one US president's term to pay off the US debt. I do expect that under Palin, the size of our national debt will decrease.
2) Sarah has a proven track record of taking a chainsaw to bloated government budgets.
3) She has repeatedly said that the first thing we must do to get a handle of the problem of illegal immigration, is to stop it at our southern border.

If Rommey runs the only way he can win is have Sarah Palin as VP...

Sarah Palin will never be anyone's VP running mate again. She's now the MVP of the center-right, and is head and shoulders above all of the usual suspects for 2012.

She's not going to take a back seat to anyone - especially the pro abort, MassCare, Republican in Name Only, elitist, Mitt Romney.

What makes you think she has not been screened and certified to keep business as usual going?

I can't believe you're asking such a juvenile question on Free Republic.

For crying out loud. Bone up on the subject at hand before sticking your foot in your mouth again.

Well, you have to consider Perry. Ambivalent as I am about this former democrat, he brings more success stories to the table than anybody else.

Yeah, he’s another Texan, but the anti-war LSM has completely dropped the attack now that zero owns the war.

I doubt another R senator will run this go-around.. that leaves Barbour, Huckabee (hurl), Sarah, Perry and Mitt. Whatever the Independents see in Mitt, they’ll see it 10X in Perry.

Sarah only said she’d run if nobody else credible stepped up. I think her support of Perry is pretty much in the bag.

1) pay off the debt
2) decrease government
3) close the border

Are you really this ignorant and uninformed? Why are you even on any thread about Sarah Palin if you haven't bothered to listen to anything she has said, or read anything she has written?

Sarah only said she’d run if nobody else credible stepped up.

That isn't what she said, and how is Romney, not a "hurl", but Huckabee is, and your personal preference is the less than conservative Rick Perry?

Palin is the choice of conservatives, and the four that you just named are not "credible".

The absolute worst Republican candidate will garner 45% of the vote.

Don’t tell me another Bush is running.
I doubt that socialist Republicans like Romney could get 45%.

McCain picked her because she is not what he is. He knew he needed serious help with the base.

Everyone sais “Sarah Can’t Win”. Well, who else do we have, really? I’m assuming our list of candidates will be a redux of last time around...in my opinion each and every single one of them sucked. I can guarantee that not one of 2008s candiates will win. I don’t see anybody else on the horizon that anybody will be the slightest bit interested in. Sarah already has a huge following, she can fill stadiums full of paying people, whereas the messiah has to beg people to fill a speech in a studio apartment.

13 trillion in ever growing debt over multiple decades and multiple Republican administrations, still open borders, amnesties, ever growing government, and she was picked by McCain and the Republican party, and you’re secure in the knowledge that she’s an outsider that will break the downfall?

Nobody can predict the future, but if Palin picks Ron Paul for Secretary of the Treasury, we will know she is serious.

New Hampshire voted for the Democrat in four of the past five presidential elections. It figures Romney would have higher favorables in NH than Palin in an exit poll of all voters. Of the choice given in the exit poll, he is the more Democrat-like candidate.

Talk about rigging some stats.

My personal preference is Sarah. I can't stand Mitt or Huckabee.

I'm just saying if Independents would vote for Romney, then they'd probably also vote for Perry, probably moreso.

Even though I’m no fan of Perry, looking at all the possible candidates, I’d be happy with Perry Prez, Pence VP, Sarah WH press secretary.

Pence can’t leapfrog from House to presidential run, he has to be someone’s VP.

She will never win more than 30% of the vote, but it would be good for democracy for all sorts of people to run.

You're ignorant of history.

Simply put, you know very little concerning POTUS elections.

Harris Poll January 29, 1980:

CARTER NOW FAR AHEAD OF BOTH REAGAN AND BUSH

"President Carter so dominates the American political scene now that his margin over Ronald Reagan in a post-Iowa trial heat has risen to an overwhelming 65-31 percent."

Also, Time magazine ran a big story in March of that year basically saying Reagan was unelectable. Gallup had a poll in that time frame with Reagan down 25 points.

Here's another blast from the past, March 10, 1980. The GOP establishment had decided they needed another candidate besides Bush to stop Reagan and started recruiting Gerald Ford:

ABC News - Harris poll: FORD LEADS BOTH CARTER AND REAGAN, ALTHOUGH STILL UNDECLARED CANDIDATE

"Former President Gerald Ford is the first choice of Republican and independent voters to head the GOP ticket, even though he has not yet declared himself a candidate for the Republican nomination.

Ford also leads President Carter among the general electorate."

Here's another one for your collection:

Historic Whispers: Ronald Reagan Had Little Chance of Winning the Primary

White House political strategists have concluded—regretfully—that Ronald Reagan is fading and will have little chance of winning the Republican presidential nomination in 1980. Why the regrets? Because Carter's aides are convinced that the conservative, 68-year-old former California governor is an easy target. (April 2, 1979)

HIstorically, POTUS polls have a wide swing to them.

Be very careful of making prognostications or speaking of the inevitability of Sarah losing this far out.

If she gets the nomination I will bet you any amount of money that I have that she gets more than 30 percent of the vote. Any amount.
