Weak, lame.
The Tea Party movement purposely supported the election of various Republicans and others to effect Conservative "change" in Congress, and having a Caucus seems like a great way to do it.
Ron Paul is the Ralph Nader of the Right.
He has the option to change his mind - assuming he wins a House seat in two years.
My sense is that Ron Paul is something of a wacko loner, though right on lots of issues. He may simply not want to become a follower of Bachmann.
If the conservatives who inhabit this forum are any indication, then I doubt whether Ron Paul is all that popular with the Tea Party.
He is right on the Federal Reserve and on many matters economic, but unfortunately he is also a nutball fruitcake. And I think most thoughtful conservatives understand that.
“Once I found out I wouldn’t be the only person in it, I knew it wasn’t a ‘me’ thing,” said Paul (R-Himself).
Agreed...the greatest danger to the Tea Party is Washington DC and falling in love with the “possibility” of them actually doing something substantial.
Nibbling around the edges with earmarks is hardly a “big win” solution.
**the Tea Party should remain a grassroots phenomenon**
We want Washington to FEAR US!!
He states a very valid reason, and I agree with him.
The most likely person to hijack and use the Tea Party to advance their own cause would be Ron Paul. I look at him not joining the caucus as a good thing.
Another reason for liking Dr. Ron — his “I refuse to belong to any club that would have me as a member” approach. Too bad the crazies and mulletheads still attack him for not being “conservative” enough.
"I've been around here long enough to remember that when Congressman Paul's writings were posted they were nearly universally cheered. Now there's a large contingent who have an irrational hatred of the man. While I may not agree with him all the time I'd take another 50 of him in Congress any day of the week.
I'm with you on that. I don't always agree with him either, but I believe he has been demonized precisely because he is an impolitic politician. His son's message is virtually the same, but Rand recognizes the politics of the situation and realizes how something will look or sound to the general public -- no matter how ethical the premise, it can be blackened by people who don't understand it.
Ron Paul leans libertarian and there was an interesting comentary on the psychological profile of libertarians in the Washington Examiner today -- summed up, libertarians are often cerebral loners, but they are most often correct in the long run. Conservatives, however, are usually happier more social people.
Dr. Paul has been winning his House seat quite handily for as long as you and I have been members of this forum I believe.
House Tea Party Caucus??
I don’t like the co-opt idea. Let the TP stay aggressive and independent.
And what about Obama’s foreign policy is not insane? What about the NWO dreamers who cook up our foreign policy is not insane? Ron Paul fits right in there with all the kooks but at least he is not trying to subject the US to UN rule and invasion.
Thanks Aevery!
I think that JR only puts up with me because I am a Fresno girl, by birth. ;)
