Thanks to Jeff Dunetz at Yid With Lid we have found out that a former ACORN worker turned director of the League of Women Voters has been heard justifying actions of the debate moderator who tried to prevent the audience at an 8th District candidate debate from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance last week.
As the debate began someone in the crowd yelled out asking if they were going to start the night's activities with the pledge. The moderator of the debate nixed the idea saying "no we are not." Then when the crowd expressed its shock and dismay she said "excuse me," and "it has never been part of " at which time she was interrupted by the entire crowd reciting the pledge anyway.
For days the controversy has raged since the October 20 debate where debate moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish tried to prevent the people from reciting the pledge. Then on Oct. 22, there was an outrageous story that Executive Director Jan Czarnik of the League of Women Voters was lambasting the pledge controversy as a stunt set up by GOP candidate Joe Walsh and an example of "phony patriotism."
So the LWV thinks reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is "phony patriotism," eh?
Disgusting....
They hate America and they don’t even try to hide it.
???
The League of Women Voters has been a Democrat organization for as long as I can remember, and I'm pretty old.
Although the ACORN info is an eyeopener to the event, that statement is not true.
A gentleman, a military vet by the way, politely stood and raised his hand, waited to be called on by the LWV moderator and asked if there would be a Pledge of Allegiance.

I suspect the League of Women Voters are about to meet up with the Tea Movement...and find that old strategy of jerking folks around and being accommodating in nature...won’t work anymore.
Can you imagine a Presidential debate now under these circumstances? All you need is twenty Tea Movement folks to make it into the audience...and they will repeat the same episode with the Pledge. Cameras will be focused on the moderator and their foolish look will be on blog pages the next day. Forget the Newspapers and CNN crews....their moment of glory has come and gone.
Overt expressions of patriotism are not hip today for the disciples of cutting edge humorists like Stewart and Colbert. Patriotism is often an early casualty of a life of material abundance and spiritual poverty.
What’s “not true” about it? From the sound on the video, a guy in the crowd asks aloud if they are going to do the pledge. It seems pretty straighforward. There is no disrespect meant to the guy that asked the question, anyway.
Oh, but Colbert displays “patriotism” all the time... in order to make fun of it, of course.
That is a great video. Thanks for posting it. It really made me feel good watching that commie b*tch forced to hear the words she must hate with all her being, all her soul.

“someone in the crowd yelled out” and someone stood, raised their hand, waited to be called on and asked are two very different things.
Me, too.
I think the takeover began in the 1970s. Everyone I have known who held high office in the LWV has been a staunch Democrat who has, over the years, morphed into a progressive. This is especially true in IL and WI, the two states where I have known women who achieved high office in that organization. These women are all in their 60s, now. They mentored the present batch of officers. They began by joining various charities and basically underwent training at that level.
You make an excellent point. We have to hope and pray that the Tea Party movement is ready to shift gears after the election and take on enemies of freedom (like the hard left League of Women Voters) nationwide one after another.
The TP has clearly changed the campaign politics terrain. Now, it needs to broaden its purview into total societal and cultural transmogrification.
That, IMO, what folks like Sarah, Michele Bachmann, Breitbart, and Mark Lloyd need to tackle.
I could see Colbert reciting the pledge at his “rally”. It would be a revolting spectacle. I think (hope) that Stewart would have more sense.
The League of Women Voters has long been a hangout for far left zealots.
What is bad is that in too many states, cities, counties and towns, the League is the one everyone goes to to set up the candidate debates at election time.
Not surprisingly, you will end up with a League leftist as moderator and a bunch of far-left local “journalists” as questioners. The dumb Republican candidates allow this to happen, and then sit by as these leftists ask soft questions of the democrat and “do you still beat your wife” questions for the Republican.
someone in the crowd yelled out is not correct.
If you watch the video linked above, which was filmed from the back of the auditorium, you can see that a man stood up with his hand raised and waited to be called on.
They didn't ask that Ms. Hyphenated wash her hands after she went to the bathroom - they probably didn't realize that they needed to do so...
If you go to Hillbuzz.com there are several videos of the incident. The woman in charge was clearly obnoxious and complained after the pledge that she was being “disrespected.”
Well, let’s get a picture of here right now so we can see what she is.....evil has a face here on earth and we need to remember this.
No picture yet....this crawled up in search........
