Juan Williams, a long time NPR correspondent as well as a Fox News contributor, was fired yesterday because of supposedly anti-Muslim remarks made while appearing on the O'Reilly Factor earlier in the week.
From the Washington Post:
NPR said in a statement that Williams's remarks--including that he gets "worried" and "nervous" when he sees people dressed in Muslim-style clothing on airplanes--"were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR."
Muslim advocacy groups and liberal commentators had reacted with outrage to what Williams said and called for his ouster. Conservative bloggers, in turn, blasted the dismissal as political-correctness spiraling out of control.
"NPR should address the fact that one of its news analysts seems to believe that all airline passengers who are perceived to be Muslim can legitimately be viewed as security threats," CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement issued before the firing was announced. "Such irresponsible and inflammatory comments would not be tolerated if they targeted any other racial, ethnic or religious minority, and they should not pass without action by NPR."
Now, that is all fine and dandy...except it is simply not true.

A couple of thoughts come immediately to mind...
WHEN will the American people start demanding that the use of taxpayer funds for NPR STOP? I have been asking this question for a long time...
When will we start horse-laffin’ the use of “McCarthyism” as a slur? McCarthy was his own worst enemy and self-destructed while actually doing a GOOD thing.
Also note the hurt feelings of some groups matter. Christians, who are murdered throughout the globe solely because of their faith, well leftists say they can lump it.
Juan should know the Muslims on 9/11 all wore suit and ties. They’ll dress to fit in if they mean to do something.
And Left Wing McCarthyism is the reverse of that.
"Cast aside" occurs when the freebies are curtailed. Best I can tell, the government is working to expand the dependent class, not contract it.
Yes, Islam is much more useful in bringing down the United States than the Black New Panther Party.

Firing Juan Williams is an affront to the first amendment. Mr. Williams didn't make the comment on your station. Soros' millions has entered your veins. I will be contacting the new congress to urge that they stop funding npr. People will be enraged when they wake up to this news.
Muslims have learned victimism, the political philosophy of always being a victim. This is somewhat laughable, since muslims are victimizing other groups all over the World, sometimes to the point of killing them. But once you embrace victimism, you’re entitled to special privileges. No one can point out the truth or facts to you.
Unlikely. Just like with Lieberman, it is less emotionally painful for those on the Left to accept the intolerance of the Left than it would be to join the evil (hateful/homophobic/sexist/islamophobic ... choose your favorite invective) Right.

I think it’s playing into the Leftist’s game plan by allowing the name of an American patriot to be so besmirched.
Why not call it what it really is? Maoism. The shaming and marginalizing of people who don’t parrot the politically correct line.
Mao Zedong invented the term, “political correctness”. He stole the idea from Antonio Gramsci, but he crystalized it in his “Thoughts of Chairman Mao”, also known affectionately as “The Little Red Book” by the SDS and Weathermen.
We use the term derisively, but it is a highly sought goal among the Maoists.
Kind of like “newspeak” in 1984.

The first thing the Pubs should do upon winning the House is to defund NPR, immediately. A first act. It will deal a mortal mental blow to the Leftist Socialist Libs. Their darling pet will be instantly defanged. Oh the angst! A small initial flexing of the Pub muscle to let the old guard know that there is a new Sheriff and posse in town that will no longer let the Libs get away with anything. Come on Pubs, I know you’ve got it in you. DO IT!
