Left Wing McCarthyism: NPR Fires Juan Williams

Juan Williams, a long time NPR correspondent as well as a Fox News contributor, was fired yesterday because of supposedly anti-Muslim remarks made while appearing on the O'Reilly Factor earlier in the week.

From the Washington Post:

NPR said in a statement that Williams's remarks--including that he gets "worried" and "nervous" when he sees people dressed in Muslim-style clothing on airplanes--"were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR."

Muslim advocacy groups and liberal commentators had reacted with outrage to what Williams said and called for his ouster. Conservative bloggers, in turn, blasted the dismissal as political-correctness spiraling out of control.

"NPR should address the fact that one of its news analysts seems to believe that all airline passengers who are perceived to be Muslim can legitimately be viewed as security threats," CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement issued before the firing was announced. "Such irresponsible and inflammatory comments would not be tolerated if they targeted any other racial, ethnic or religious minority, and they should not pass without action by NPR."

Now, that is all fine and dandy...except it is simply not true.

That is pretty much how I have it also. "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" is what pushed hispanics over the blacks in favored victim status. I still think gay is way ahead of hispanic though.

What I find interesting is most black people think they are still at the top of the victim totem pole. It will be interesting to see what starts to happen when blacks realize they have been largely cast aside for these other favored groups.

You do give them money if you pay federal taxes. It is tax payer funded public radio.

The day after Soros gave NPR a million dollar check.

This is a shame. Juan Williams is one of the few honest spokesmen for the Left. Maybe that’s the real reason he was canned.

I once read a book about South Africa (during the apartheid era) written by a black diplomat from a Caribbean nation--he was granted the status of "honorary white" while he was in South Africa so that he wouldn't be bound by the regulations South African blacks were bound by.

Nancy Pelosi must have been accorded the status of "honorary Black Muslim."

"This is not the first time the libs have went gone after Juan. They want people who will completely tow toe the leftist line, no matter how ridiculous the issue."

There. That's much better.

Gay may be ahead of Hispanic but I think it's pretty close for two reasons: one, if there's a Hispanic-on-gay attack like that Latin Kings thing in NYC, no one wants to say it's Hispanic culture that is so macho and homophobic. No, no, it's gang culture. Two, it was largely the Hispanic population of California that voted for Prop 8, banning gay marriage, but again, no one wanted to say so. They blamed the Mormons.

Hypocrites.

Who was the AA activist who said that if he saw a group of black men on a dark street he would be nervous?

Someone find that quote and see if NPR has banned THAT person from their airwaves.

If the Republicans gain control of the House, one of their first spending reduction targets should be NPR.

I believe this is legally actionable on the part of Juan Williams.

He expressed a personally-held viewpoint on another network.

This is a total wrongful-termination lawsuit.

It's interesting to watch the Victim Hierarchy shift around, isn't it? Currently, I'd say women are on the bottom (as usual), blacks next, hispanics above blacks (bumped them a couple years ago, actually), then gays (though closely tied with hispanics) and muslims are definitely on top.

Interesting analysis.

Orwell nailed it with the "some pigs are more equal than others" observation.

NPR lives in an alternate universe, where there are no muslim terrorists, and everything would be just peachy if we ignored reality. Because, after all, it’s our responsibility to make everybody love us.

So, NPR, tell us where Juan said he was bigoted against muslims.

That is absolutely, pitifully disgusting. Truth doesn’t matter, does it? Juan is one of the Liberals I respect with all my heart. I love the guy!

This only proves that the left wants mind and speech control imposed...if you veer just a little and speak the truth...you are WHACKED!
