Exactly!
KKK? Naw.. Just his muslim family members. Senator Byrd happens to have an Iranian son-in-law, Mohammad Fatemi, who is married to his daughter Mona Byrd (one of their kids is named Darius, the name of the ancient Persian king who appears in the Bible).
In addition to continuing to draw his congressional salary, the late Senator Byrd will also uphold Democratic tradition by voting in the November election.
There’s too much Gratuitatin goin on heir ....
This is highway robbery.
Next they’ll let them resale the naming rights to all the buildings named after him.
“This is highway robbery.”
Using highways for theft was, indeed, Byrd’s speciality.
John Raese For Senate.
Oh, really? Since when? When was the first time this practice went into effect? Probably a LIE to keep the "Serfs" in line. Rotten Bastards!!
Funny, my friend’s husband, Ret USAF died and the government DEMANDED back his last month’s retirement check. Within weeks of his death.
I put DEMANDED in caps for a reason.
You’ve got to be kidding me...
"We" are not corrupt.
It's the Congress that is corrupt.
Neither did I. Bloody affront to We The People if you ask me. It’s a kind of trust fund or golden parachute except it’s done with our money.
Questions:
Why an entire year's salary and not just the remainder of Byrd's current year's salary that was owed to him for the actual time that he served?
Could this be a payoff for someone to keep his or her mouth shut about something?
I wonder if Ted Kennedy's family got the same "gratuity."?
Is the "gratuity" going to be tax free?
This bill must also pass the House. Is no one in House going to question it?
How much and how long has this type of legislative stealing been going on?
They are our elected representatives. “We” collectively as a people, have the government we deserve. Individually, yes, “we” still have good Americans, just as, no doubt, there were stalwart, patriotic citizens of Rome during its decline as well.
I did a little research and here are the rules (somewhat vague):
Members of Congress Who Die in Office: Historic and Current Practices

This practice must and will stop.
Absolutely outrageous! The only upside is getting rid of Byrd at only 193K.
Why on earth should it be cut off? That's money paid in. Why shouldn't it go to heirs?
Byrd died?
