Veteran election analyst Charlie Cook has backed away from his earlier prediction that control of the Senate was in play in this election. In light of Tuesdays Delaware Republican primary, Cook says the odds now overwhelmingly favor the Democrats retaining their Senate majority:

If the so-called purity test is the Constitution than I agree and the Voters of Delaware should be proud of what they did!
One small correction, o’Donnell is NOT “down” 11, that is fuzzy thinking.
She is down 5.5, as her poll numbers move up, Coons move downwards, she doesn’t need to make up all 11 pts.
the political CLASS is getting fired, get it?
Agreed. First the brakes, then the repairs.
Nevada - conservative Sharron Angle
West Virginia - conservative John Raese
Illinois - liberal Mark Kirk
California - moderate Carly Fiorina
While the polls have shown Dino Rossi trailing Patty Murray, I believe in the end the result will be very close to the jungle primary, where the Republican and Democrat totals for the race were close to even.
No, I don't think O'Donnell has a particularly good chance at winning.
I would focus on electing conservatives in West Virginia and Nevada, while nailing down the leaning Republican races like Wisconsin and Colorado.
This “control of the Senate” blather is nothing but Ruling Class Distraction. How can they pretend that we have already forgotten all the talk of sixty votes for the healthcare bill.
I have to wonder what odds he would have set for her to raise $1.5M in less than three days.
I like our chances in California, Nevada, West Virginia and Connecticut.
At this point, O’Donnell being down 11 in the polls is only modertaly relevant. She was down as much to Castle less than two weeks before the primary and pulled that off and to say she’s had a good week since then is an understatement.
Before long it’ll be 8 points...then 5...then within margin of error. I think this one will be in the too-close-to-call column come Election Day.
Rather have it this way than a "majority" of RINOs who will engage in "power sharing" - we had that for a couple of years and look at where it got us.
Hey George, the Brits outnumber us,have better equipment, are living in our homes, have much support from citizens in the colonies.......lets just quit and go home.
HA!
Let me be a contrarian for a moment. Maybe it’s for the best that Republicans don’t hold both chambers going into the Presidential election cycle. It will be more difficult for Obama to run against and to blame Republicans for his continued failures.
This is the same guy who predicted Repubs would only win 3 seats in the Senate in 1994, and just 15 in the house.
Repubs won 10 Senate, and 54 house seats.
he also predicted a BIG Kerry win in 2004.
He’s pretty good at predicting Democrat waves, but not Republican ones.
Win or Lose, was still the right thing to do because it sent a very clear message to the GOP establishment that they can’t #@%& with us!
Keep these articles to throw back in their faces when the Senate goes Republican.
Odds are RINO Mike Castle won’t be the U.S. Senator from Delaware are extremely HIGH.
And that alone is a good thing.
So? I don’t care about a “GOP” majority. Never did. I want a conservative majority. Infact I’m pretty sure the only people that care if the GOP has a “Republican” majority in the Senate are the insiders. The House can sufficiantly block the Senate and W.H. and we’ll win that.
If its 51-49 - the GOP would be in no real big different situation than if it was 49-51 Dem since Castle would be a Jim Jeffords anyway.
It’s amazing how many people don’t understand the gravity of the situation we’re in.
Read my lips RINO’s - lameness is not an option.
“Moderation” only means more of the same, which we clearly cannot afford.
The old guard Republicans are starting to make Sore/Loserman look downright mature.
