Only way I could stand being homeless is if I drank expensive booze all day long every day. Maybe someday I’ll be rich enough to give homelessness a try.
#1 in my book. :)
Hold the phone here, people of DU. Don’t you understand that the reason for the increase in Mickey D’s food is due to the very high minimum wages in SF. The liberals of SF decided a few years ago the current minimum wage is cruel to those that are attempting to live in the SF area. So the owner of that McD is now required to pay her employees $10 or $12 an hour so that the downtrodden workers of the world have a chance to make it in The City.
So now the DUmmies have their panties in a bunch because one McD has removed it’s dollar menu. So who aide are you on? The workers that need that money to pay their rent in the very expensive area of SF or the poor pitiful homeless (that refuse to lower themselves to working at a McDonald’s)???
The DU group will be tying themselves up in knots over this one.
When I lived in Los Angeles and drove to West LA every day to work, there was a bum on every freeway offramp. I always had to sit at a long off ramp light where a bum was rather aggressively panhandling. The off ramp was covered in litter of all stripes. I always wanted to tell the bum that if he cleaned up all of the litter on the off ramp I’d start giving him some money, but I was sure he’d take it as an insult. So he never got anything from me... not even the advice that he needed but likely wouldn’t have listened to anyway.
I think McDonalds and other dollar menu venues have helped the poor and hungry far more than any welfare program.
I went belly up, and ended up homeless through no fault of my own; then recovered. It was scary.
How, you ask?
By starting a business trying to sell those people glass naval inserts, so they could at least see where they were walking.
How was I to know that the worse they needed my services, the less they wanted to avail themselves of the opportunity?
I finally saved myself by taking my stock, adding a reflective backing to the flat side, and selling them to a guy named Bott, who turned around and sold them to highway departments around the country.
As someone who used to work at a shelter, I can tell you that the attitude the DUmmies are pushing IS the problem. You know why these homeless people go to McD’s? Because then they don’t have to either go to a wet shelter (where you MUST be an alcoholic to get in) or to a dry shelter—going to either one will in some way force you to get your act together.
I used to give money to homeless people and sneer at those who didn’t. Since working at that shelter, I’ve given exactly ZERO cents to any homeless person.
This is so typical of the left—beating their chests about how compassionate they are while they help the homeless population NOT get better.
Funny! (and probably true)
That’s cuz the burger did not come with a side of MD 20/20.
She may kill you but the jury returns a not guilty! verdict.
Definitely not guilty.
Why bother when later this week I will be picking up 16,000 FREE chicken/buffalo wings via coupons? Tonight I begin my long two-day coupon clipping odyssey. BTW, you scared me with this DUFU headline. I thought ALL McDonald's were dropping their dollar menu.
That guy on the left sitting on the steps - he's somewhat clean-cut, and the holes in his knees aren't from wear - they're manufactured holes. They were cut and aren't even frayed much. The guy's a poser.
I wonder how many "homeless" are just scammers supplementing their welfare, food stamps, and unemployment with the proceeds of their daily shakedown. They dress the part and pry on the sympathies of others to donate tax-free income to them.
And in a few days I feast on THOUSANDS of FREE chicken/buffalo wings that will last me for weeks/months. Actually better than FREE but that is another story.
I have a job for her! See how easy that is?
