In the wake of a dispute between WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah and conservative author Ann Coulter over her decision to headline an event sponsored by GOProud, a gay conservative organization, Farah and GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron will square off in a debate later this month at WND’s convention.
Barron told The Daily Caller that Farah challenged him to debate over whether GOProud can be considered “conservative” after Farah argued on his site that there is no place within conservatism for an organization like GOProud, a group that promotes itself as “the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies.” TheDC is waiting for confirmation from WND about the debate’s details.
Farah dropped Coulter from a speaking engagement at WND’s annual “Taking America Back” convention in Miami for agreeing to speak at GOProud’s “Homocon” party in New York. (Coulter later said that Farah had never actually booked her for a speech, calling him a “swine” and a “publicity whore.”)
Farah contends that groups like GOProud are trying to commit a “coup” to unroot the conservative movement with an “agenda…to take the homosexual agenda inside the conservative tent.”
Barron insists that his group is genuinely conservative and said he looks forward taking on Farah in front of a WND crowd.
Since we announced that conservative author and columnist Ann Coulter would be headlining our Homocon 2010 in New York City, Farah has attacked GOProud, attacked Ann, and challenged our work almost every single day, Barron said in a statement to The Daily Caller. I look forward to standing on the stage with Mr. Farah to defend GOProud, to debunk the misinformation he has spread, and to make the case for GOProuds conservative mission.
Barron added that conservatism stands at a major crossroads in its acceptance of gays into the movement. A number of high profile conservatives, including Lisa De Pasquale of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and former General Counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee Craig Engle, have signed on as official sponsors of GOProud’s event.
The debate will be held on September 17 at 7:30 PM at the Doral Golf and Spa Resort in Miami, Florida.

Sorry, but you are guilty of indiscriminate thinking.
Some gays are “out” in parades, this group is not.
I am surprised when I find that attitude on an activist site.
Why don't you grow up a little, and go and Google "GLSEN" and "Kevin Jennings" and then come back and tell me their agenda is all about what they do "in their own bedrooms". It is not. It is about infecting the culture with their own sexual compulsions using the fraudulent wrapper of "civil rights", so that children MUST be taught their perversions from nursery school on up. This is not about "votes", and GOPoud is just another front group like the Log Cabins, setup by the Left to divide us. And its working like a charm when supposedly smart folks like Ann Coulter act like dingbats.
Farah dropped Coulter from a speaking engagement at WNDs annual Taking America Back convention in Miami for agreeing to speak at GOProuds Homocon party in New York.
Farah's now an open hypocrite, not just an implicatory one. First he attacked one of the most effective, focused and powerful conservatives in the country for meely planning to speak of conservative issues to gays. Oh no, must ban speech all together, for any reason, to gays - and that's a conservative principle?
Now Farah will speak to gays, but that's different because, well, because he's Farah! Ann might find common ground with gays, talk about the Constitution and conservative political issues, bring in votes while refusing the gay agenda without throwing out the gays themselves. Whereas Farah will merely remind them they are damned, and they can go stick their votes where the sun don't shine, conservative or not.
Therefore: Farah may speak with "conservative" approval, while Ann may not.
Bull. Bible thumpers are not "conservatives" - they are bible thumpers. There are many "kinds" of conservatives, who believe in conservative principles because they believe in the constitution of negative rights. That's WHAT is being conserved - and with it, protection for bible thumping bigots and homosexual bigots to spew their mutual hate at each other.
Real conservatives protect them both, and the economy, and due process, and everything else.

Where does he mention a conservative agenda?!
You simply don't get the concept of the story the Camel's Nose, do you. No one has told them they can't vote conservative. That's NOT what they want. They want to force conservatives to accept their agenda.
You have much more in common with the average member of the Democrat Party than you do with conservatives.
THAT statement is what is bigoted. Most conservatives know, it isn't all about me, it's about the country and what is best for it. GOProud is not about what is best for the country7, only about what they THINK is best for homosexuals, which of course is an oxymoron. They are about nothing else. Oh they may have a fiscally conservative view point here and there, but that is all. By7 encouraging a gay plank in the party, the GOP would lose much more than is gained.
Conservative homosexuals. What exactly are they trying to conserve? The immorality of Sodom and Gommorha?
“Why would any real Conservative worry about what two consenting adults do in the own bedroom?”
Because they don’t keep it in their own bedroom and won’t be content until anyone who disagrees with them is destroyed.
That's exactly the kind of all-or-nothing vindictive, damning attitude I was addressing by using the phrase "bible-thumping bigots" next to the phrase "homosexual bigots."
I gues I'm going to actually have to test the wrath of God by declaring that I think the fundamental constitutional principles of negative rights and due process are the way to deal with the gay issue, rather that attacking and damning gays for being homosexual.
In my parts, that's called conservativism. And I don't need to personally insult you to make that point, or defend my own. The founders didn't make the constitution because they were philosophers - they made it for it's POWER. It provides the best way to reign in and stop those who would destroy peaceful, law-abiding community.
IF it's followed.
You’re the one using bigoted language, not me. Hypocrite.
You have a problem here. They are demanding, and sometimes getting, special rights.
Homosexuals have the same rights as anyone else. What they want is to force people to accept their lifestyle as normal. It is not.
“I’m with Farah on this one.
The older I get, the more I see the dangers of compromise and reject inclusion for the sake of acceptance.
I know of homosexuals and they are not my friends nor invited to my house.
I’m sure they’re nice people, but I make the rules of my house and I have chosen. “
Agreed, and that still brings us back to the flip flops of John McCain.

John McCain Again Turns to Homosexual Mark Buse to Lead Re-Election Campaign

McCain has a long history of flip-flopping on gay marriage
Yet veers to left in Senate reelection campaign by hiring homosexual lobbyist to run campaign
Looks like John McCain is veering back to the left already on gay marriage, having hired an openly gay lobbyist to manage his campaign, Mark Buse. This is more in line with his wife and daughters views, who openly opposed Californias Prop. 8 ballot initiative which stated that marriage is between a man and woman. Cindy McCain has a photo of her opposing that initiative as her Twitter profile picture, and both women have campaigned against it. It is clear McCain doesnt want the Christian conservative vote.[snip]
Lobbyist Hired by Freddie Mac to Work on McCain Is Now Senator’s Aide (Buse)
[snips]”Senator McCain was talking about limiting executive compensation, and Buse was retained to nip that in the bud,” said a former lobbyist who insisted on anonymity because of continuing relationships with the companies.
Buse was nicknamed “The Ferret” because he helped his boss, McCain, find pork-barrel provisions buried in legislation. McCain has said he considered Buse to be like a son.
Buse left the commerce committee staff to lobby, signing on clients as diverse as oil giant Exxon Mobil, Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, according to the government records. He also represented telecommunications clients affected by the committee.
Buse returned to McCain’s office this year as chief of staff.
I think it’s a question of how the term “conservative” is defined.
For example, I absolutely love FReeping. I am a strong advocate for the Bill of Rights. I believe in limited government, RKBA and states rights.
However I cannot honestly self-identify as conservative, since even though I pray honestly, I don’t go to church and am a bit too tolerant of some things to really be conservative.
It’s not a hindrance that I’ve found. Most of the time I’m tolerated here. Despite having a strong belief in trade protectionism, and I’m very proud to be a FReeper.
I guess I consider myself a Tea Party libertarian.
Why the gay group can’t do so, is confusing to me. There’s no shame in being a libertarian.
That’s what they are. So why are they trying to define themselves as what they’re not?
I mean, nothing is stopping them from voting for conservatives. Nothing is stopping them from opposing marxism and central planning. That’s all great.
Nothing is stopping them from being Republicans or Tea Partiers. It’s the term “conservative” they’re trying to for some reason co-opt. Why? What is so important about claiming that term? It’s not theirs to claim.
They’re not conservative. They should not claim to be.
IMHO.
So Farah drops Coulter because she is speaking TO the organization but invites the chairman OF the organization to debate at HIS event. How intereting!
intereting=interesting sheesh
I was going to reply to your libby-tarian post, but I see you have already been told.
Type "Libertarian Lisa De Pasquale" in a search engine to see how "conservative" she really is. All three of the above are phony libertarians.
You’ve got that right. Just like ACORN when their activities were discovered, Log Cabin just went out and changed their names and there are people still stupid enough to fall for them.
