Just when I thought that I’ve heard every possible insult in the political realm this year Rabbi Daniel Lapin added his two cents. On the Glenn Beck program he said he views the atheists as parasites who without putting any energy into it benefit from America created by the faithful people.
The Rabbi is entitled of his opinion and is free to call me parasite. However, I urge his friends to help him, because he may need advice from psychiatrist.
Just two days ago a fellow who was calling people parasites strapped himself with bombs to make a point on Discovery channel. He wanted to inform the world that people are parasites.
Here with the Rabbi we have a ‘parasites’ alert. Please, if you know Mr. Lapin, check on his psychological condition before he harms himself, other people and his cause.
Insult after insult is coming from the TV talking heads.
Some idiots called me a cracker for being white, bigot for being against illegal immigration, racist for being for small government, parasite for having children and now double parasite for being atheist.
Have we run out of decency in this country? Can we stop insulting people with stereotypes? With this entire campaign for personal responsibility can we judge people individually by their deeds instead of stuffing them in groups that wave fists to each other?
I was excited watching the Restoring Honor rally. I was inspired. I thought that people can unite with the goal of being decent, honest, taking care of each other and the children and the country. How naive of me!
Someday the applecart will fall. It’s just a question of when, and everyone knows it. I imagine they’ll get cranky near the end...

Far be it from me to remark on the proper use of punctuation . . but I am only an engineer, not a journalist trained in the art of words and how to use them.
I think it has something to do with the conservation of energy and the avoidance of kinetic commas.
Meanwhile, "Rome" burns.
A lot of non-atheists made it all possible.
Whatever anyone wants to call themselves, in order to maintain a free and prosperous society, we all must have certain morals in order to live together in freedom. We all must live by the dictates of God given to us in the Ten Commandments. Too many have turned their backs on God’s laws and decency. We are headed for the cliff because we have corrupt, power-hungry, amoral politicians at every level of government in this country. The current Regime with Mullah Obama’s Czars and this Congress are destroying this nation and putting the world in peril because of their corruption and quest for power. Too many in Corporate America and elsewhere are also corrupt and power hungry. Somehow, we must get our moral compass back whatever your faith. In my opinion, to do less, dooms all of us.

I took it personally. I am conservative - pro-life, pro-family, pro-honor, pro-charity, pro-decency, anti-socialism, fiscal conservative. I am also an atheist. The man labeled me a parasite.
I being a Christian, must believe and live (try as best as I can to live) by what Christ taught, and that is that we love one another. That includes loving people who I may not agree with. I have both atheists and people of other religions as friends. And I love all of them.
The problem with the atheist is that he/she, given his/her worldview, has no way to declare a moral absolute. As they spread their faith, they spread the ideal that “right” is whatever a man thinks it is in his own mind. Atheism is a psuedo-faith that is as destructive as Islam or any other false religion.

When the 10 commandments are taken out of the public square, their opposites move in to fill the void. Today, that void has been filled with the laws of political correctness. What good has that done for anyone?
The more social chaos there is, the bigger government gets. Someone has to care for the fallen, lost souls created by PC.
The 10 commandments are good laws because they're self controlling. If everyone were to follow them they best they could, there wouldn't be the social chaos we have in the world today.
They're just good, natural, laws that never fail.
Although there are many situations where commas to separate clauses might be optional, the sentence to which you referred requires at least three of them, perhaps four or even five.
BTW, I don't consider myself a journalist.

The Rabbi is correct. Atheists benefit from the stability to society that religious organization affords. This is isn’t a Judeo-Christian thing either - ancient Greeks and Romans who were polytheists found the same benefit to organizing their religion. In the the ancient context, individuals would belong to a specific temple, which served as a support network for the other aspects of their lives - business/commerce, art and culture, politics and warfare. I saw the Rabbi makes these comments, and he was citing the fact that human beings appear to be hardwired to seek religious affiliation - it provides basic meaning to the other aspsects of life mentioned above.
My problem with atheists is that they mostly come off as intellectually dishonest. They claim to not believe in God, but deny that this view is a belief system itself. I could care less how this unfolds for individuals on a personal level. However, it is hypocritical of the atheists who try to push organized belief systems out of the societal “marketplace” - for example, those atheists who actively work to remove the nativity scenes from public spaces fail to view their own cause as the promotion of a belief system.
Atheism is a "faith" in the same way that "not collecting stamps" is a hobby.
