An Obama supporter who has a temp gig at my office has asked me to put in a good word for them (gender-neutral reference) toward a more permanent position.

What to do, what to do?

I quit a job because working with liberals was unbearable! They had an opinion on everything and knew nothing. In the course of the day we would just discuss life and in my opinion they were nuts.

Been gone 2 yrs. now, I will never work with libs again!

It’s interesting that she, as a temp, informed you that he/she is an Obama supporter. If he/she talked politics on company time, I would not hire him/her; it will only get worse. If not on company time, then ignore the political aspect and recommend him/her if she can and will do the job.

Tell them that here in reality, employment is based upon merit... not upon favors.

I'd tell the manager that the employee in question hasn't been stealing as much from the company, since they quit their drug habit.

:-)

I would tell the temp to not worry about needing a good word from me that zer0care and 92 weeks of unemployment pay will take care of everything

Buy them a copy of...

1.) The Road to Serfdom
2.) Atlas Shrugged
3.) The 5000 year leap

And then request a synopsis of all three and how do they juxtapose their philosophies vs. Obama's and will Obama's social and financial changes ultimately fail?

If he or she comes back that it won't fail, don't let them anywhere near your organization....

I'm of mixed opinion.
1) If you're willing to put up with endless gushing of how great a job the POTUS is doing, go ahead.
2) If you want to crush their spirit and rub dirt in their face for their ignorance when the bill comes due, go ahead.
3) Forget politics all together and do it if they've done well on the job. (though you might tell them to quiet down on their lousy choice in elected officials)

Exactly.

A temp making their political beliefs known (left or right - doesn’t matter) is indicating a bad sense of judgment.

Martin would do well to advise them of this. And make no reccomendations

If it’s a “she” and she’s good looking, vouch for her.

If she’s ugly or a guy, to heck with them.

Assuming you feel the temp would make a good employee, don’t let politics contaminate non-political matters, and make the recommendation. The intrusion of politics into everything is already making the country a more unpleasant place to be.

I agree that if this temp did a good job put in a good word.

On the other hand - the people who voted for Obama may have subjected you (everyone reading this on FR):

1. Losing your job and ability to support yourself or family. Things are getting worse in the economy - a LOT worse.

2. Subjected you or your children to grow up in a police state that may be ruled one day by sharia law.

3. Subjected you or your family to wage slave povery assuming you have a job to insure the elites, union workers, govt union workers, illegals, H1-Bs and others have a comfortable lifestyle, early retirement, benefits and outstanding health benefits while you will work like a dog until you drop.

4. Subjected you and your children to a country that is likely to slip into third world status.

I was at a place to pick up a sandwich for lunch an it wwas just about empty. I will be brown bagging now myself.

People posting here have no idea how bad it may and probably will get. Thank drooling idiots who wtach TV who have empowered OBama because ALL of TV supports him.

America in the near future may be a lot worse than East Germany and Czechosolvakia under communism. It will be a more islamic and multicultural version.

If they’re a good worker, say “good worker”. If not, then don’t. Why should a person’s politics enter into it? Further, permanent employee’s are probably more likely to start leaning to the Right, since it’s now THEIR money that the Left uses for its nonsense.

You’re not needed. They’re democrat and will sue the company for the job.

The key question is what do you think of this person’s work?

If they are efficient, smart, productive, would be an asset to the company (hard to believe that of an Obama voter, but I suppose it can happen), then yes. But not if you think that there would be someone else who would be a better employee.

You are not obligated to “put in a good word”, just becaue the person asked.
