All things worth having come at a price. Freedom is certainly worth having and the Allied Nations paid dearly for it sixty-six years ago.
Take a moment to consider the scene pictured above.
Many of the GIs you see wading through the water didn't live but a few moments after that picture was taken.
All of them had to be sick with fear; their minds racing with thoughts of loved ones back home and of the job ahead of them.
Everything we have and hold dear today was bought and paid for by the brave GIs in that picture. Think about it.

Yesterday there was deafening silence from the White House as Obama and the White House web site had nothing to say about the Longest Day.

Roughly 6,000 US and Allied troops died in the invasion that day. Nobody forced them to go, these heroes did it willingly in order to preserve freedom and self-determination and bestow it upon future generations.
And how does Skippy recognize this supreme sacrifice from so many? He totally ignores it.
What else do you expect from this guy? At least he’s consistent. Consistently un-American.
God Bless the men who took part in this invasion. They did it so we didn’t have to.

This is my Dad's boat, LCT-457, Febrary 1944. That's probably him standing in front. Looks like they're doing a VIP tour.
He was in Flotilla 4, Tare Green Sector, Utah Beach. Had an Army engineering company with bulldozers and TNT.
