Can’t we just say that we have an additional 32 Republicans running this year that will add to the overall conservative direction of America. Even Republicans are trying to use “being Black” to forward our beliefs. Kinda sad that we are being like liberals.

To this conservative it looks too contrived. Why limit the field to a black candidate when any of a number of conservatives can win in 12? Just my opinion.

Thomas Sowell has written extensively on the harm done to individual black students by ‘over-promoting’ them into a college that is more competitive than their own current level of competence. Likewise, to push our best black politicians to the presidential level before they have fully accumulated the experience they would otherwise need is doing them and us a disfavor.

I’m thrilled that we have such an impressive array of black candidates running this year, and I want to see them prosper politically for years to come.

Republicans already lost the race to elect the first black president. As it stands now, all US history books will forever read that the first black president was a Democrat. Serious attention should be given to finding an electable female candidate. Longer term strategies should then include Hispanic and Asian candidates. Failure to do so will only widen the gap between minority voters and the GOP. Of course, all of this is useless if the party can’t figure out what its stands for.

A more likely possibility is soon to be Senator Marco Rubio as the GOP VP candidate.

That being said, I wonder if the only way to definitively beat Obama in 2012 is with a black Republican candidate.

That's the silliest thing I have heard in quite a while.
Blacks will always vote like 99% for 0bama, no matter who the GOP candidate is.
You want proof?
Look at Michael Steele himself. When he run for the US Senate in Maryland against a white guy, the blacks overwhelmingly voted for the white guy, because he had a “D" after his name, rather than vote for Steele, who was a black with an “R” after his name. It's total waste of time for Republicans to even think of nominating a black guy for 2012 to win the black vote. No gonna happen. Plus we have plenty of great candidates already for 2012. We don't need any affirmative action, race pandering candidates.

The disaster caused by tard and “independent” voters who insisted on making an empty suit the world’s most powerful man - just because he was black - means even worthy black candidates can forget about winning the presidency for at least a generation.

The sort of dumbass thinking that is not needed in the Republican party. But it does fit right in with the Bush/Rove/McCain Pander to Hispanics strategy they tried to force on the party for most of four years. How did that one work out?

Well, which votes will a black Republican attract that a white one wouldn't? Presumably some people who voted for 0bama because he was black?

IAC I would say any black Republican candidate for president should at least have significant experience in state or national level public office, preferably some private sector experience and be able to withstand the inevitable Democrat muckraking that will be personal and racist in nature. As we have seen with Sarah Palin, the candidate's family are considered to be legitimate targets by the 'Rats also.

No thanks. This gains us nothing. The black vote will always go to the party offering the most handouts.

I want conservatives. I don't care what race they are. They newly naturalized from Kenya, as long as they are truly conservative.

I have a friend who witnessed the socialism/communism in his native South American country and he hates what is happening here. I told him if he gets his citizenship, I will be his campaign manager.
