“Superpower” Debate Heats Up
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 17 April 2010 | John Semmens

Posted on 04/18/2010 4:22:12 PM PDT by John Semmens

President Barack Obama’s remark that “whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower”—sparked a retort from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin that “most Americans do like it.” Determined not let what he characterized as “an out-of-office rube from the Great White North” have the last word, Obama elaborated on his vision of what most Americans like.

“I shouldn’t have to point this out, but when voters had the chance to put Ms. Palin into the vice-presidency they declined to do so,” Obama observed. “Instead, they voted for me. As I see it, that says they agree with me more than they do with her.”

“You know, being a so-called superpower isn’t so great,” Obama added. “I mean, you can’t just vote ‘present’ and coast along with the group. Others make demands on you insisting that you stand for freedom and against tyranny. But who is to say that promoting freedom is the right thing to do? Strange as it may seem to people like Ms. Palin, not everyone shares her preferences. Other cultures may have other values that they prize more highly. Respecting these other values, even those that at first blush may seem tyrannical to Ms. Palin, is a key foundation for the way I aim to govern this country.”

Sorta like you respected the opposition to healthcare.

STFU.

I’m glad I glanced up at the source, there is no smoking gun in that to mark it as satire. It’s entirely believable.

“whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower”

Just why the {expletive} wouldn't we like it? Mr. limp-wrist here must consider all these international relations things like being a superpower a distraction from his domestic socialist agenda.

“I shouldn’t have to point this out, but when voters had the chance to put Ms. Palin into the vice-presidency they declined to do so,” obama observed.

One mark of a narcissist, they can't let any slight go un-answered. Just like his feeble excuses about his bad baseball throw. Narcissists can't abide anything negative being their fault - always have to have an excuse, a scapegoat. PS - I wouldn't be too proud of having lied my way into office obama. Everyone sees you for exactly what you are now.

“Instead, they voted for me. As I see it, that says they agree with me more than they do with her.”

Ah, obama the slow learner, and narcissist. He's already forgotten all the flak he took for his "I won" comment - now he basically repeats it. If obama bothered to check the polls (his are tanking), or look at the TEA Party rallies (attendance is rising), he'd realize this is flat out wrong - most people in America do not agree with him.

“I mean, you can’t just vote ‘present’ and coast along with the group.

Ah yes, obama would like to duck out on the tough ones, get back to his socialist domestic agenda.

...even those that at first blush may seem tyrannical to Ms. Palin, is a key foundation for the way I aim to govern this country.”

Dictators around the world are on the phone even as you read this, sending flowers and fruit baskets to obama. obama, friend to dictators, tyrants, despots, and murderers, reluctant superpower, socialist, and un-Constitutional President. They gotta love him.

On first blush, some folks might wonder: Is what he said so bad? After all, being a superpower carries a lot of responsibilities. It’s expensive and maybe even a little unfair to all the hyperpower wannabies.

Well, here’s a way to put Obama’s comment in perspective:
Imagine your spouse’s reaction if they happened to overhear you say this to someone —>

“Whether I like it or not, I’m married.”

You’d be toast. And deservedly so...

The Founding Fathers? Just a guess....

I agree, it is getting impossible to tell truth from satire; What is real and what is not. The whole country is in an abusive relationship with the great manipulator. Some will start to be filled with doubts due to smooth talking and twisting of the facts. Like all great liars he occasionally uses truth as a weapon to garner self doubt in the objects of his attention. If you read The Verbally Abusive relationship, the One uses basically every tactic in there to keep the constituents off balance and (his goal at least) under control.
