They're just all slimy and gross. I like most other veggies, but Brussells sprouts are disgusting.

This being a veggie thread, I have a serious question. Does anybody actually eat rutabagas?

That sounds perfect. Are you of Mediterranean extraction? That’s where the very best hummous is. (IMO)

“One of my favorite dinners is steamed brussel sprouts with lemon butter alongside baked sweet potatoes, also slathered in butter. On their own, nothing that unique. Together, a smashing taste sensation.”

Good to know since I still have fresh yams, left over from Thanksgiving, and they need to be cooked up ASAP. I will need some chicken to go with that. Thanks!

That would be a perfect avatar for that site some of us were playing on earlier today. The Crash the Tea Party site.
We had major fun over there.
My character was an unwashed hippie.

Maybe the sprouts would be more tolerable if they were dropped into glasses of limoncello? The only way they would be tolerable to me is if they were dropped into some kind of acid that made them completely dissolve and disappear.

I learned Middle Eastern cooking from an Armenian friend who grew up in Jerusalem.
As to my “extraction” - there’s a picture at the bottom of my page.
See if you can make a close guess.

Rutabagas are grrrrrrreaaaaaat. They are sweet and crispy when raw and can take your mind off of grabbing a bag of chips.
They are great in big chunks with a pork roast.
Good in stir fry dishes instead of water chestnuts...
And excellent mashed with yukon gold potatoes.

Dunno. I never had them. They are in the same family of root plants.
I use turnips.
