Tweet Justice for Glenn Beck? [Jewish Funds for Justice Plan 24-hour Tweeter Attack on Beck]

Tweet Justice for Glenn Beck? By David Waters

Beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, and for the following 24 hours, the Jewish Funds for Justice plans to tweet the heck out of Glenn Beck.

The social justice group plans to unleash a "Twitterstorm" on the Fox News host to protest his recent remarks mocking the faith-based idea of "social justice." JFSJ has collected more than 1,500 haikus (Haik U Beck, they call it) mocking Beck.

The group plans to start tweeting the verses to Beck's personal Twitter account, one every minute, "to confront Glenn Beck about his bizarre and incongruous opinion that there is no place for social and economic justice in religion."

Among the haiku that will be sent to @GlennBeck:

And Jesus said to All his hungry disciples Hands off my fish, chumps.

It is so quiet Except of course for Glenn Beck He's never quiet."

If there are churches that have YOU on their websites Please Lord help us all.

Tweet Jesus.

The group claims this will be "the first large-scale Twitter protest of its kind." As a protest, this is creative, but it seems more likely to just create more publicity for Beck. And doesn't Glenn Beck seem like the kind of person who likes attracting a lot of attention? Is this creative or just counterproductive?

More suicidal death wishes from da Jooz. Gotta wonder why such otherwise intelligent people insist on killing themselves. Oh well. Not my problem. They like obama. Let The One save their sorry asses. Fat chance, of course.

This is pretty tame if this is the best they have. Search his name on Twitter right now and you’ll see people wishing all kinds of creative death and torture and him and his family. Gee, another day another progressive group cloaked in faux religion protest Beck. Yawn.

Direct from the JFSJ main page:

Our holistic approach to social change includes grantmaking and loans, service learning, leadership development, organizing, education, and advocacy...individuals have a profound responsibility for the wellbeing of the whole...helping to build a resurgent movement for justice.

They just need to add "dialectic trans-spatial interdependence" to make the farce complete. C'mon, who's writing this twaddle? Is Ellsworth Toohey their PR guy?

And they’re going to quote Jesus to Glenn, and they’re Jewish. NOT a good idea, imo.

Nor the opinion of any right thinking person. These people only want freedom for those who think as they.

Seems to have really struck a nerve with these folks, good. The left has been using the church as a legitimate cover for their godless agenda for far too long. It’s time they got called out on it and exposed as the charlatans and frauds they are.

Just more examples of the tolerant left and their non-judgmental ways.

Hey, anything to escape rational discourse. Besides, if the group isn't screaming hatred at some targeted person, how's a liberal going to know what to do?

A general definition of social justice is hard to arrive at and even harder to implement. In essence, social justice is concerned with equal justice, not just in the courts, but in all aspects of society. This concept demands that people have equal rights and opportunities; everyone, from the poorest person on the margins of society to the wealthiest deserves an even playing field.

From a political stance that is leftist, you must legislate to create a just society, and various programs need to exist in order to collect monies needed to even the playing field between rich, middle class, poor and those people who are routinely marginalized by society. Equal rights can be defined as equal access to things that make it possible for people in any societal sector to be successful. Therefore, leftist philosophy would support things like anti-discrimination laws and equal opportunity programs, and would favor taxation, especially of those who make a lot of money, to pay for programs that help provide equality for all.

The far left would argue that there are certain basic needs that must be offered to all. These include things like truly equal education and safety in all schools and programs that would help all children have the financial opportunity to attend college. Far left groups, often termed socialist even if they differ from true definitions of socialism, further argue that a just society cannot be had unless everyone has access to food, safe shelter and medical care. The way to achieve this is through taxation and government implementation of programs that will guarantee these things for all people.

The right political stance equally endorses a just society, but may criticize those who make poor choices and feel that while equal opportunity should exist, a government should not legislate for this. In fact it is argued that social justice is diminished when governments create programs to deal with it, especially when these programs call for greater taxation. Instead, those who have more money should be encouraged to be philanthropic, not by paying higher taxes, which is arguably unjust.

Social Justice: Code for Communism

By: Barry Loberfeld
FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, February 27, 2004

The signature of modern leftist rhetoric is the deployment of terminology that simply cannot fail to command assent. As Orwell himself recognized, even slavery could be sold if labeled “freedom.” In this vein, who could ever conscientiously oppose the pursuit of “social justice,” — i.e., a just society?

In 2002, for example, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) issued new guidelines requiring education departments that listed social justice as a goal to “include some measure of a candidate’s commitment to social justice” when evaluating the “dispositions” of their students. As soon became clear, this provided education schools a back-door method of ensuring ideological conformity among their students.

At Brooklyn College, Washington State, and Alaska-Fairbanks — all public institutions covered by the First Amendment — students were punished for voicing opinions that differed from those of the faculty. At Washington State, where the college of education tried to expel a student for his conservative opinions, the dean was asked whether Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia could pass a disposition test at the school. “I’m not sure how to answer that,” she replied.

Eventually, NCATE clarified its wording a bit. Sounding very much like Jim Wallis teeing off against Glenn Beck , NCATE protested the attack on the words “social justice,” saying, “To most Americans the phrase social justice is positive and connotes values associated with the Judeo-Christian tradition.” The problem is that even in its mildest form, the insistence on dedication to social justice puts schools in a position of judging the acceptability of students’ political and social opinions.

There is a place for social and economic justice in religion but not in big government. Go volunteer and help the poor but don’t sic the IRS on everyone else.
