Good morning. Am okay — a *whole* lot better than yesterday anyway. If I could just excise all of last week and yesterday, things would be better. And maybe include week after next too; this trip to Frankfurt is turning into a massive exercise in frustration.

My son sent my $50 for my Christmas/Mother’s Day/Birthday present for last year, so I went to the pawn shop today, and got a home-theater system for $40...surround sound! Now I just have to figure where to place everything for the best noise!!

Sounds exciting! I have sensitive hearing and like to keep the volume on things low.

My parents solved this problem, when Dad’s hearing started to get really week, by buying a large-screen TV. Dad would watch from nearby, and Mom would watch from a couple of rooms away!

Congrats on the new sound equipment. Take your time figuring out the speaker placement; it can really make a difference in the resulting soundscape. Not that things have to be EXACT, or else, but definitely make the effort to get as near to optimum placement as your space will allow. That effort will pay off the first time you’re watching a movie and suddenly realize that you can hear things taking place behind you.

That’s what I want! Sounds behind me are scarier than those to the sides. With five speakers, I have a wide range of NOISE!!!

I’ll find the manual online and see what is optimum for the sounds I want. I can hardly wait!

Thanks for your help! (Some days, my brems are scarambled.)

My hearing is sensitive, as well, but if given the full range of sound, I figure the volume can be lower than what I’m used to.

My son had the perfect setup in his media room, and when we watched movies, I was blown away by the sounds that were off to the sides and the rear.

Of course, the most fun he had was watching Mom trying to get out of the broken side of the loveseat-recliner....it usually resulted in both of us laughing so hard neither of us could move.

When I was finally able to move, I usually fell out of the chair. Which was super funny for both of us.

I finally got my new work laptop today. I've had it for over a week, actually, but the IT guy came out to set it up this afternoon, finishing about the time I was to head for home.

Not much different from the old one, just faster and with nearly all the jacks on the sides instead of the back.

Yah, well, bumper jacks wouldn't do you any good in today's world, would they?

Nah. They’re all ramps today anyway. On-ramp, off-ramp, ramp up, ramp down.
