Texas Gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina spoke to an enthusiastic Kingwood Tea Party crowd in far-northeast Houston Saturday interested in hearing her plans to reform the Lone Star State. Medina made no reference about her Glenn Beck interview. However, the 20 or so random people with whom this reporter spoke before and after her speech seemed to accept Medinas follow-up response released by her campaign a couple of hours after the Thursday morning radio interview. As Char with Texans for Nullification Today said, If you go back and look at the radio transcript, when Glenn asked if she believed the government was involved in bringing down the World Trade Centers, Medinas first two words were, I dont. If shes guilty of anything, its for being verbose and not using a teleprompter. The Tea Partiers seemed to be far more concerned about the possibility of having to elect the lesser of two evils, incumbent Gov. Rick Perry or Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, as the next state Governor. Medina pounded on hot button topics such as Perrys support of the mandatory HPV vaccination, the Trans Texas Corridor and his support of state college tuition rates for illegal immigrants, as well as Hutchisons support of the Federal Bailouts, Amnesty for illegal immigrants and pro-abortion rights. State Sovereignty was a reoccurring theme in Medinas speech. Many of you stand with me in saying enough is enough. Weve had enough tyranny and corruption from our federal government, she said. From refusing to recognize Roe v Wade in Texas, to keeping the EPA off the backs of Texans, Medina was emphatic in her refusal to allow illegal Federal actions if she were governor. Although Medina said she would be willing to support a Texas Resolution declaring State Sovereignty, she said she didnt see the need to do so, as Texas currently has the right under the Tenth Amendment now a governor with the courage to stand up and say no to the Federal government is all thats needed.
Illegal immigration was another topic that met the approval of the Tea Party crowd. When you cross the Texas border, youre on private property. You are welcome to our state, but you need to go through the gate, not the river. She indicated that because the Federal government is not meeting its obligation to properly enforcing the international border, she would be compelled to communicate her intensions to the Mexican government, while building up and eventually deploying the Texas National Guard to seal the Texas-Mexico border. Medinas passion on Gun Rights and a balanced Budget resonated with the Tea Partiers, as she pointed out the record of opponents Perry and Hutchison. We need to elect citizen leaders, not more of the status quo, she said. As Texas is currently $33 billion in debt, triple of what Perry inherited when he first took office, it would take until 2047 to pay that debt off. At the state and federal level, government must end its insatiable appetite to spend our childrens money. |
Superbly done!
I checked all your links.
Such an endearing endorsement and personal introduction by her mentor, moonbat Ron Paul...lol.
She’s Ron Paul in a skirt and a Truther to boot. Shame on her. The woman is unfit to hold elected office in this country.
I honestly find it hard to believe she has any supporters at all after the bizarre comments she has uttered over the past week.
I know she sure doesn't have the NYPD vote. ;-)
Can you believe the Houston Comical endorsed freakin' Kay Bailey Hutchison this morning???
I wish I had a subscription so I could cancel it.
KBH brought home a lot of pork. Was that mentioned?
Not sure. My breakfast was threatening to come up after I read the first paragraph, so I had to stop.
Are we so desperate to clean house, to get rid of career politicians that we’re ready to take a chance on an unknown former nurse and small business owner who’s a Ron Paul advocate with NO experience, with questionable judgement and loyalties?
The tea party movement is great.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to show the politicians they work for We The People.
It would be wonderful if a Sarah Palin emerged from the tea party movement.
That has not happened.
Debra Medina is no Sarah Palin.
Debra Medina does not represent our ideals.
She has tried to hijack the tea party movement.
She knows she’d never have a chance of getting herself into office running on her Libertarian Party, so she’s calling herself a Republican- just as Ron Paul did. That in itself is dishonest.
Just take a good look at other states compared to Texas. Are we willing to chance sending Texas down the tubes with most of the rest of the states?
The point is; WE HAVE NO CHOICE THIS TIME AROUND. At least Perry is the Devil we know.
And we better d*mn well know when we decide to replace him just what we’re replacing him with!
How does that proves that she wants to legalize drugs? A blog?
That was the first site I found quickly.
Don’t take my word for it..GOOGLE IT.
Well, then write in Michael Williams’s name. If Perry doesn’t appear to need the help, you’ll cast a principled vote and not have it weigh on your conscience.
The Ron Paul/Medina mob kept barraging Beck with phone calls to have Medina on until he did. He had many calls from viewers asking him to ask her if she was a 'truther'. He did. Now, they are blaming Beck and Perry for 'sand-bagging' her.
I don't believe for a minute that she was 'set up'- but what if she was? At least we got a deal-breaker bit of info that could save us from disaster. Putting up 'truther' Medina against the Democratic candidate would be suicide.
That's not the question I heard, Medina said. She said she thought he was asking about whether citizens should question their government. SAY WHAT?? How plain did Beck have to make it? It was a simple question; do you or do you not believe our government was responsible for 9/11?? All she had to do- as any rational, sane person would do- is answer a simple 'no'.
This idea that Beck (or anybody else) sabotaged Medina is absurd. If you cant answer did the govt have anything to do with the 9/11 attacks? you're not be fit to run for dogcatcher.
For God's sake, have any of you really looked into her platform- her background? Has this woman even been vetted?
She wants legalized drugs.
She backs gay marriage.
She is for abortion
She has not spoken to her elderly parents for YEARS. They had to find out she was runing for governor of Texas by reading the newspaper!
http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-politics/medina-hailing-from-beeville-learned-political-skills-on-229907.html?srcTrk=RTR_95609 What does this say about this woman's character? And rumors are begin to surface about husband Noe's past associations.
Take a look at some of the statements she has made: "Its a shame isnt it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?
"Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?
"Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.
"I believe we too often get into race when its immaterial. (Obummer, is that you?)
I don't believe for one minute Medina's propaganda about wanting to strengthen the border! La Raza probably has her in their back pocket!
Glenn Beck has once again helped the tea-party stay in the Republican mainstreamby by weeding out dangerous fringe thinkers like Medina.
Medina is NOT representative of the Tea Party movement. She USED them- latched herself on to them. Shes a hard core Libertarian who has realized that the Libertarian Party will never win anything and that the only possible way to get herself into office is to do what Ron Paul did and wrap herself in the Republican cloak in hopes that it will fool enough of the voters enough of the time. Thank God Glen Beck outed her in time.
Retrieve your sombrero from the ring and go home Medina. You're Texas toast.
Ping to WakeUp1776
I have read all your rantings asking us to convice you to vote for Perry. WE ARE NOT TRYING TO DO THAT!
We consistently say we are not supporting Medina because she could not answer a very simple and direct question that had only one rational answer. END OF STORY!
We could care less if you like it or not, its just reality, get used to it.
BTW, I am a Native Texan.
... what a strange ad hominum attack. No argument from you, but instead a google search??!!! What, are you off your meds, try and make sense next time, or at least something worth reading, hmm K?
EI left shaking his head...
Let me connect the dots for you.
It is a three person company made up of her, her husband and one other person not an empire offering a possibility of executive experience.
Medical billing, which is what her “company” does is not innovative as the Google search proves.
If you need any help with 2+2 the answer is 4.
BTW n00bie, yours was the ad hominum(sic) attack.
I made no ad hominem argument.
ahhh... sarcasm in an argument shows you to be stupid. Try and get through the 3rd grade and then come back with an argument that stands up.... or just go back to your troll friends at DU.
I see I confused you.
You are probably used to it.
And yes, I am a DU plant who has been lurking for more than a decade.
How? Actually, sarcasm used properly is an indication of a sharp wit, which is an indication of strong intelligence.
You're getting your feathers all ruffled and slinging insults about because the truth was pointed out: Debra Medina's company consists of three people who perform a medical billing service.
Hardly the sort of innovation that qualifies somebody to be what is essentially the CEO of a very large state.
I had to stop going to DU.
Your animated gay rainbow avatar makes the pages load too slowly.
You should change it.
