These photos were taken on the Bellwood Subdivision, between Seward and David City, Nebraska on the BNSF RR. Seward is about 25 miles west of Lincoln , on the Ravenna Sub. A few blizzards and sub zero temperatures coupled with moderate winds made for a beautiful, but, flash frozen environment. A freight train was snowed in at David City and a rotary snow plow was sent to clear the track of drifts that varied from 6ft or less up to 12ft in spots!! The photos were taken on Jan. 8th through Jan. 10th.
Do I dare say....good old AMERICAN know-how!
MORE POWER!
What scale is that?
wow, that is unreal.
This has nothing to do with train track snow removal per se, but I thought that readers might also be interested in this fun FR thread about how a beautiful steam engine 'rescued' British passengers in December after the modern electric trains couldn't work during a heavy snow.
UK Steam locomotive takes home passengers stranded by snow-delayed modern trains
In England a few months ago they had a problem snow and te modern trains on I think a more rural line. They brought out s steam train and it handled it without any problems.
Well if you worked in that department you’d know most family doesn’t settle right after the funeral . . . it is many times set up as an annuity and death cases or amputation automatically mean a high dollar amount. I guess the claims agents and their managers have goals to meet too.
I need one of those right now!
Is that what they used to call a “flanger” engine?
Mike Rowe, host of the Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs might be able to make a Cleanest, Dirty Job show out of this type of snow removal.
beautiful picture, I love those old trains, lucky you to be able to see them.
I chuckle every time I hear it.
Yeah, but that was the SP - Semi Professionals
You should see the snow depths in the Rockies up to 50 ft.
Cool stuff ping.
There's a whole series of the attempts to get that train unstuck:

:’) Instead of a cowcatcher, they’ve installed a Tasmanian Devil catcher. ;’)
When you said “Graphic Content”, I thought we would see cow-parts come flying out.
THAT is a thing of beauty!
