Editors note: Doug Edelman argues that while the eligibility question is valid and needs to be resolved, we should shelve the issue until after the 2010 mid-term elections. Glenn Beck spent considerable airtime on his January 4, 2010 radio program dismissing and ridiculing the “Birthers” and the idea that President Obama was born in Kenya. Of course this raised immediate ire amongst those who question Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve in the office of President of the United States. Before a war erupts on the Right between the Constitutional Eligibility Challengers and their deriders, BOTH sides need to step back! The eligibility issue is a distraction, and as Beck RIGHTLY points out – could serve to advance Obama’s interests – at least at this point in time! The focus needs to be on Obama’s policies. ObamaCare can still be rammed down our throats. We must put ALL our energies into convincing our elected officials that NOTHING that comes out of Conference Committee can be acceptable and WHATEVER emerges must be voted down. Focusing on “Where’s the Birth Certificate” right now will simply waste energy and resources that we need for the healthcare fight – and failing in that arena will permanently damage our Republic. PRIORITIES, PEOPLE!

A lot of you noobs seem awfully concerned about whether Beck agrees with the birthers or not.
I give up. Why?
This has been the Dim strategy all along: kick the can down the road on this issue, until it's too late.
Why should we go along with it?
Obama is an illegal alien and should be placed in a federal
prison in a 4x6 cell with Michelle as his cellmate for life.
Now that’s punishment.
Leave the “ birthplace” issue at the door. We can deal with it later. There is more important material in Kenya about Obama’s marxist father and his ties to the Luo opposition, the moslems, and the Kenyan communists (who were aligned with Moscow).
Lots of things in Obama’s background that need to come out besides the birth certificate. Let’s focus on those items which will expose Barack as a hardcore Marxist ideologue with some very interesting ties to the Communist Party USA, the marxist New Party, the marxist Democratic Socialists of America, and even to one known Soviet operative, if not two.
There are some very red skeleton’s in Obama’s closet. Time to open the door and let the truth come out.

Exactly. The eligibility issue doesn’t fit into Beck’s line of attack, which is essentially that “progressivism” is the root of all evil in America and Obama is just one part of it.
Since nobody else on Fox openly talks about the subject either, I have to believe that they are all under orders to shut up about it either because of threats that Ailes and/or Murdoch have received from the Democrats or because Fox thinks it is just bad for business to keep talking about whether a half-African Marxist is really constitutionally eligible to be president, knowing that cries of “racism” from the left will be the result.
My own feeling is that because the Obamanoids refuse to discuss the matter and won’t cooperate with any researchers or investigators and the Democrats will always defend their own, plus the fact that the Republicans have no stomach to deal with the issue, we are better served by pursuing the eligibility question strictly in the courts while we simultaneously work against Hussein’s policies and legislation for all we are worth.
While I agree that putting conservatives in office in November is a very high priority, that will not solve the problem of Obama’s czar system and leftist takeover of the federal bureaucracy. We need to support the attorneys who are litigating Hussein’s eligibilty in order to explore one more avenue of either getting rid of him or, more likely, embarassing him and rendering him impotent until 2012.
The question does not even have to be put in terms of his “birthplace.” The point is that he suspiciously refused to furnish the original. The SUSPICION is the thing. There is something associated with the question of his birth, or PERHAPS some detail on the document itsELf. Double citizenship? Who knows? why not question him the way we would question a Republican in the same situation?
I would ask Beck,” Where is your ‘Question with Boldness???’”
on this paricular issue? Hmmmm?
If I were running for office, I would not go on the attack with the issue.... However,
I would be prepared with a slap-in-the-face irrefutable response when someone asked me about it...

If you watched as Obama appeared before congress at the state of the union address BUCK NAKED, claiming to be sporting a new fashion in elitist garment technology, and the media reported that his new suit was simply dashing and Oh so presidential, would you take another look at the re-run to see if he was as naked as you thought he was?
Or would you wonder why the media was lying?
I see no acceptable reason for us to forgo the Constitutional eligibility requirement just to humor other RINO’s and real conservatives who choose to work hard to elect more conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections.
That is not reason enough to abrogate our national responsibility under the Constitution.
It’s time to take back the country.
I think many of my fellow birthers (and you old timers know I’ve been on this issue since before the election) are being played by the left on this.
Nearly every day someone in the leftard media goes off on a rant about Beck being a birther. Beck defends himself and sure enough someone (often a noob) shows up here to stir the pot.
This is exactly what the left has stated that they will do to republican candidates.
I disagree with Beck on the issue but so what. I disagree with virtually everyuone on some subject or another. All Beck is doing is defending his position from the harrassment on both sides and quite frankly I don’t blame him for being sick of it.

If he is the fraud that many think he is, he should not get away scot-free when caught, but must be severely dealt with in order to set an example for possible future usurpers. And those who are knowledgeable of this deception should also pay the price for this sham.
The position of POTUS is too important to be given away to just any charlatan.
