Hoax Phone Calls? Woman Calls Hope For Haiti Telethon and Says Her Granddaughter Has "Spinal Bifida"

The disease is call "Spina Bifida"...You have to wonder if these calls to the stars during last night's telethon were real or were they from the next room...Here is video of just one..

Surely this writer must be kidding, I know a number of people who mispronounce various ailments that they have. An aquaintance had their "galt bladder" removed, those pesky "galt stones".

Someone calling it "Spinal" vs "Spina" bifida is a minor offense in my mind..

There are plenty of aid agencies for all sorts of medical conditions in the US. If you are so concerned I suggest you find a few and donate to them. The majority of the people of Haiti live in extreme poverty and can use any assistance we can give. I'm sure the cancer patients of America have a roof over their head and medical care.

When I was working in promotional video, we got all kinds of people making statements about the event, but we only promoted people who could speak continuously, forcefully, and somewhat interestingly, and without dead air, stuttering, or using useless phrases such as “like” “you know” etc. Mispronunciations were more than acceptable, and we could tell when a caller was “too good” to be believed.

That may be but a great many people mispronounce things. If it sounded as if callers were reading what they were saying, that is one thing. But mispronouncing something isn't any kind of a proof.
