By attaching herself to this for-profit outfit, Sarah Palin undermines her standing with her very constituents. Many tea party folks are shaking their heads after being the same people to hold up signs supporting Palin. Why not donate time at the Tax Day Tea Party? Why associate with a guy with questionable tea party cred?
And these questions beg a bigger question: Who is giving Sarah Palin advice on these matters? Certainly, it does not seem that people tied into the grassroots organizations are being sought for advice.
Sarah Palin said on Bill OReillys show, regarding this engagement, that controversy seems to swirl around her. Indeed, it does. She also said that she wouldnt be making money from the engagement, a sum rumored to be $125,000, but that the money would go to (presumably) her PAC and would help fund conservative candidates. Thats all to the good. Still, I cant help but imagine that participating in the Tax Day Tea Party being planned in D.C. on April 15 or some other non-profit event around the country would have been more in the keeping with the spirit of the movement....

The irony of this accusations is that it comes from the folks at CPAC who were more than happy to whore themselves out to the highest bidder.
I believe you are wrong. Non-profit organizations are under Section 503 of the tax code, with the basic purpose of being tax exempt.
Here’s a list of the different kinds of non-profit organizations allowed by the IRS:
According to the IRS Publication 557, in the Organization Reference Chart section, the following is an exact list of 501(c) organization types and their corresponding descriptions.[1]
501(c)(1) Corporations Organized Under Act of Congress (including Federal Credit Unions)
501(c)(2) Title Holding Corporation for Exempt Organization
501(c)(3) Religious, Educational, Charitable, Scientific, Literary, Testing for Public Safety, to Foster National or International Amateur Sports Competition, or Prevention of Cruelty to Children or Animals Organizations
501(c)(4) Civic Leagues, Social Welfare Organizations, and Local Associations of Employees
501(c)(5) Labor, Agricultural, and Horticultural Organizations
501(c)(6) Business Leagues, Chambers of Commerce, Real Estate Boards, etc.
501(c)(7) Social and Recreational Clubs
501(c)(8) Fraternal Beneficiary Societies and Associations
501(c)(9) Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Associations
501(c)(10) Domestic Fraternal Societies and Associations
501(c)(11) Teachers’ Retirement Fund Associations
501(c)(12) Benevolent Life Insurance Associations, Mutual Ditch or Irrigation Companies, Mutual or Cooperative Telephone Companies, etc.
501(c)(13) Cemetery Companies
501(c)(14) State-Chartered Credit Unions, Mutual Reserve Funds
501(c)(15) Mutual Insurance Companies or Associations
501(c)(16) Cooperative Organizations to Finance Crop Operations
501(c)(17) Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Trusts
501(c)(18) Employee Funded Pension Trust (created before June 25, 1959)
501(c)(19) Post or Organization of Past or Present Members of the Armed Forces
501(c)(21) Black lung Benefit Trusts
501(c)(22) Withdrawal Liability Payment Fund
501(c)(23) Veterans Organization (created before 1880)
501(c)(25) Title Holding Corporations or Trusts with Multiple Parents
501(c)(26) State-Sponsored Organization Providing Health Coverage for High-Risk Individuals
501(c)(27) State-Sponsored Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Organization
501(c)(28) National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust
Most non-profits fall under 501 (c) (3). But you can’t charter a political organization under section 501 at all.
The purpose in going through all the trouble of filing as a non-profit, of course, is precisely to be tax-exempt. And some non-profits have auxiliary corporations that are not shielded under their non-profit umbrella, through which they conduct their political activity. If you donate to such a political organization, you do not receive a tax exemption.
Yeah, go ahead and post it so that we can get it out in the open. No need for you to take any heat, so I’d just put in a reference back to this thread.
And it is an opinion piece. Not news. Written by an MD. Google her.
I only commented on the 200+ threads posted (that I counted - there are more) without a single response.
If he or she wants to use FreeRepublic as a repository for his/her PM articles, so be it.
But I don’t put much stock in such hit-and-run methodology. IMHO, that’s just pimping your blog.
Which I was pointing out.
The Lib trolls, PaulBots, and the lemmings who fall
for their propaganda can’t dispute Sarah Palin’s message
because Sarha has the facts to back her comments up.
Many of the bashers have signed up on FR within the past weeks or months. Almost never include what state they live in.
It is the old discredit the messenger, Sarah Palin.
When it is not done by the liberal media, it is done on
FR by PaulBots and other propaganda tools.
They believe by repeating quit, not bright, etc. people will believe this mantra of lies and hate.
If it isn’t the outright bashing it is the posts of:
Gee, I like Sarah BUT,
The old Concern Troll, to Deliberately Lower Morale.
Sarah Palin supporters have seen every trick in the book
and this types of bashing and undermining only make us
more resolute in our support for Sarah Palin.
I just read #56.
What is an MD?
Point taken. I retract that part of my comment.
thats just pimping your blog.
It may or may not be his blog, although I would be suspicious too. Do you know if the poster is associated with PM?
Americans Hold Their Breath: What Will Democrats Do?
Melissa Clouthier's Bio
Dr. Melissa Clouthier blogs on her own website and RightWingNews.com . She also hosts a new online radio show on RFC Radio . Owning her own medical business means that what happens in Washington is not theoretical to her or her family.
If by "associated" you consider that every one of the 200+ threads are from PM, then I would say yes.
But hey! We could ask the poster!
Oh yeah. He NEVER responds to a question. EVER.
"Hey AJKauf! Are you "associated" with Pajamas Media???"
I googled site:freerepublic.com melissa clouthier and came up with this. As you can see, several of Dr. Clouthier's previous articles have been well received here.
You may be onto something. :)
*shrugging*
Associated with PM.........
Check his articles there.

I have no problem with good Americans making a living advancing good Amwerican principles all over this country and with other Americans donating to them to make that possible. Like we do right here at FR.
If there is every corruption or lies or criminal mismangement or misrepresentation...get back to me then. Until then, quite crying and trying to make a controversy where there is none.
Melissa Clouthier, Dan Riehl and Erick Erickson pretend they want the GOP to change. They don’t do much about it, except make money from whining, then critize someone like Palin that is shaking things up.
Everyone knows that the Tea Party will organize in various forms until hopefully it becomes more organized. Good on this guy for at least putting together a successful convention.
“And Riehls is here:
Riehl, Erick and Clouthier all turned on Sarah Palin over her decision not to go to CPAC. Their arguments slamming her for that were weak, so they started slamming the Tea Party event.
So we have a conservative blogger establishment joining with the anti-Palin left against Gov. Palin and the Tea Party movement.
Unfreakingbelievable.”
Yes, there is some odd link here.
Palin’s attendance at the TP convention has been known for some weeks. These people only raised concerns when Palin declined CPAC. Riehl also made some weaklt thought out attempts to defend Keene and his shenigans too. Yuk.
They think CPAC is wonderful. Good. But Palin doesn’t think Keene is wonderful. What is their beef really? What gives?
Because she needs to be compensated for her time - that's why. Go Sarah - make that coin good lady.
I hear that she's even working and getting paid for -- being on Fox News, too... LOL...
Sounds like Sarah is doing the more constructive thing for the conservative cause.
Still, I cant help but imagine that participating in the Tax Day Tea Party being planned in D.C. on April 15 or some other non-profit event around the country would have been more in the keeping with the spirit of the movement
I sure hope the above touchy-feely wussified opinion isn't representitive of what the Tea Party movement is becoming. Certainly Sarah donating her time to earn 125K for her conservative PAC is the more productive use of her time.
The author doesn't seem to understand this.
