Many evangelicals wondered why under heaven Pastor Rick Warren, Saddleback mega-Church, was so cordial to Barack Hussein Obama during the presidential campaign.
Countless conservatives were so taken aback that they couldnt digest the facts when first told.

Live by the hype, die by the hype.
Plus he’s asking his church for 900 grand in the last two days of the year in a fundraising letter he ends with “I love you all so much.”
What a transparent individual he is. I pray everyone else would see it.
This guy got too cozy with liberalism, and now he’s a million dollars i the hole. Boo freakin Hoo.
Rev. Warren gave creedence to this man, and a platform.
Never should have happened.
I’d bet$100 that Warren VOTED for the demented Marxist for President. Warren is all about Warren. Didn’t the silly Warren declare that SYRIA was hospitable to Christians a year ago? Bob
Rick Warren worships at the alter of Rick Warren.
Warren ended any credibility when he began self promoting in the shadow of Obama.
(just another 30 pieces of silver pastor)
“Mr. Rick, you first.”
I am NOT a fan of Warren, however, Warren and his wife tithe 90% of all their incomes to the church...they didn’t always, they started out giving 10% and eventually went to 90%.
You will not find any of the “TV” preachers who do so.
Warrens also said that Muslims worship the same God as Christians.
Are you telling me he is just a better-dressed Jimmy Swaggart?
If you can afford, as pastor of a church, to tithe 90 percent of your income to the church, you are making way too much, IMHO.
There are also some clever tricks that can be used to deal with this. Donate 90 percent of your income to the church, then the church gives you things you would not normally get ie, pays for your house, pays for transportation, pays for your clothing, pays for your travel expenses, pays for a whole lotta the “perks” that the other churches make their pastors pay for. IMHO, its a way to live even MORE extravagantly than the 10 percenters.
I trust no one in charge of a mega church. No good happens in a stadium (think circuses, professional sports, benny hinn, concerts, and political bs).
That is good to know, and I will take your word for it. I stand corrected.
Two words - MMMMMMM MMMMMMM.
“If you can afford, as pastor of a church, to tithe 90 percent of your income to the church, you are making way too much, IMHO.”
I suspect this comes from book royalties and not salary...
That's the problem I have with mega-churches and their pastors. All too often it becomes about them and not about Christ. My preference is a small church where the pastor can be held accountable by his congregation....and you don't have to check the church directory to find out who someone is.
that may be so, but think of the tax writeoff on 90 PERCENT of his income being donated, then the church providing for all of his needs.
Sounds suspicously like congress to me....
yes
If I were in Warren’s place, representing a large congregation, I would have been inclined to reach out to zero as well. Rick Warren has never indicated regret for his action, however, the way things turned out, he may. 20 / 20 hindsight is fairly easy. His approach could have used some polish and I wish he had stood on principal more than he did. I believe his heart was in the right place but he should have checked with some Christian Brothers before stepping out.
