And that's the problem. We have no proof that he was born in Hawaii. His grandma says he was born in Kenya.
obama could make this whole issue go away if he would just publish open his records. The longer he fights releasing his real birth certificate the more he looks like a foreigner.
All we are asking if for him to prove his eligibility something EVERY other President has done.
His grandmother does not say he was born in Kenya. That is an urban legend.
A birth certificate is considered legal proof of place of birth. Obama has published one saying he was born in Hawaii, and there are contemporaneous birth announcements in the local papers.
"obama could make this whole issue go away if he would just publish open his records. The longer he fights releasing his real birth certificate the more he looks like a foreigner."
In fact, he could not. Not all the claims would be settled by producing more documents. The only documentation that matters is place of birth, and that document has already been produced. It hasn't mattered.
Also, he's not "fighting" releasing his birth certificate. When he was asked during the campaign, it was provided. All that's happening now is that lawyers are filing the normal procedural responses to lawsuits that they did not start. No suit has reached the stage of looking at evidence.
"All we are asking if for him to prove his eligibility something EVERY other President has done."
Have they? Has every other president done that? Really?
Please show me Bush's or Clinton's or Reagan's birth certificates.
The procedure that was followed in electing Obama was the same procedure that has been followed in electing every other president. Nothing different has happened here.
Therein lie some of the trouble.
-There are several pieces of evidence attesting to BHO’s Hawaiian birth. The COLB, newspaper announcements, his Indonesian school records, the statement of the Hawaiian Director of Health, just to name four. You may reject these pieces of evidence, but you cannot correctly claim there is no evidence.
-Over the course of his life BHO never claimed to be born anywhere other than Hawaii. Nor did his mother make any such claim.
-BHO’s grandmother never made any such claim. The recorded conversation where she supposedly said this was edited to make it look like this is was she meant.
Allowing public access to his birth records would satisfy some, but not all. Probably not even most. As very few of the folks who are worried about this would ever have or ever will support BHO anyway, he has little reason to do this. It certainly wouldn’t matter to those who take the stance that a Natural Born Citizen must have two citizen parents.
And no President ever has been required to provide the kind of proof that is now being demanded. This is something that definitely needs to be changed. Several Freepers are working on legislation for this. I am hopeful that they will be successful before the 2012 elections.
