One reason for the difference in U-Haul pricing is that they need the trucks in the “bad” states. One way rentals leave them in the “good” states and they have to be transported back. The company is essentially paying renters to drive trucks back to the “bad” states. That is just one of the ways that supply&demand works out. If the traffic gets really heavy out of Michigan the price back to Michigan could conceivably even drop to $100. I can imagine U-Hauls lined up southbound on the Interstate out of Detroit.
Federal government employees will vote Virginia straight into Michigan, given enough time. They’ve already turned the state purple in a decade or less.

Frankly, I wish they’d keep their findings to themselves. VA has been inundated with VOTERS from those other places who are changing the area in a negative way. They maintain their same old voting patterns to our detriment.
You can get a great deal on a U-Haul from Phoenix to LA.
At the time, California was a hot spot and North Dakota was shedding population, so we got a great rate. How times have changed!
