I find it reprehensible (for me to be) seemingly defending her but is it possible she may think that stance makes her look shorter?
After all, she is a bit taller than the rest of the women she is coming in contact with around the world.
It may be her way of establishing her dominance-marking her territory, making others adjust for her presence.
No, that's OK to defend her when it's true. Honesty and accuracy matters more than silly jokes and stuff IMO. And you make a good point.
Typically, though, a tall person tends to stoop or hunch down and doesn't assume a spread-eagle pose but who knows what's going through her mind?
(I just thought the thigh-master thing was funny and Mrs. "I'm ashamed of my country" is fair game in my book.)
