here is their excuse on their website:

September 24, 2009

Dear Burlington Township Families:

Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. King, Principal of B. Bernice Young School, directly.

Sincerely,

"I Am Barack Obama is not a book about Barack Obama. Rather, it allows children to see themselves through the inspirational story of President Obama growing up as an ordinary child"

IT IS A BOOK ABOUT OBAMA!
Do any of these teachers have an education?

So they admit this abomination was authorized, but they wanted to keep it a secret.

I don’t think it could be posted like this on the net without the parent’s permission. Now how is it that the school didn’t know it was being recorded?

The author of the book put it up on Youtube. She is a lawyer. Did she get permission from the school? Apparently not.

The closest I ever came to it was a historical ditty about Lincoln.

You know, I vaguely remember that. Might have had something about Washington too?

Still....big difference between a song about a president long dead, and one still sitting in power.

Kids and politics don't mix, ever. Even if I happened to agree with the politics (i don't in this case) ... I'd still find it repugnant.

See if this rings a bell:

In a state we call Kentucky
One February morn,
In a rude and lonely cabin
A baby boy was born.
How his momma must have loved him
From the time he was a babe.
For she taught him truth and justice
Folks called him Honest Abe.

Amazing I can remember that after going on 60 years. I must have early stage Alzheimer's or something. But it has a bouncy beat and you can see the historical context, born in a log cabin in the "wilderness" (at the time), etc. The part about "his momma loved him" used to make me tear up (kids think of their moms when they are youngsters in school).

But, I agree, having songs of praise sung by schoolchildren to a sitting President is very Orwellian and scary. I was in grade school when John Kennedy died and I don't recall this kind of adulation. We talked about him, sure, but there was never this degree of magnification and cultification as there seems to be for Obamism.

Hello, Mr. President we honor you today! For all your great accomplishments, we all [do? doth??] say “hooray!” Hooray Mr. President! You’re number one!

Reminds me of old Soviet propaganda film of young children bringing flowers for Stalin on his birthday and stiffly repeating "unrehearsed" gushing praises. Or films of the Dear Leader Kim il sung of N. Korea..

Nice Ditty, but not what I was thinking about. It was something in the context of Lincoln and Washington's Birthdays (remember when they were actually celebrated, rather than "President's Day" which is now largely ignored?).

Meh, no matter. May have even been something that the teacher just made up.

And you're right re: Obamaism = A Cult. You hit that one right on the head. Politics and Kids don't mix, ever.

Yeah, this "President's Day" crap should be repealed. I think it should only be Washington's Birthday, for historical reasons. For Lincoln, maybe have a commemorative observance but no federal holiday. There have been a lot of Presidents but only one "Father Of Our Country", as GW used to be known.

Obamaism should be flushed along with it's vacuous cult leader. I'm thinking maybe use a page of their textbook (Alinsky) against them. What was that about ridicule? Just scorn them, show them how ridiculous their slavish adulation of their God of Iron is. I was doing that on a local newspaper thread and it about drove the libs into a fit of apoplexy. Music to my ears...

They have ALOT riding on this “historical
first black president” BS. Therefore, he/they won’t go down easily. They will try to suppress the “worst president in history” proclamation at all costs. But, alas, the TRUTH shall win the day!

Ed, that school is in the county right next to mine. I was kind of surprised because Burlington County tends to run conservative in the rural areas.

Springdale School Confused With Controversial New Jersey School

POSTED: 4:00 pm CDT September 24, 2009
UPDATED: 4:58 pm CDT September 24, 2009

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A story from New Jersey is causing problems for a Springdale school.

A school called B. Bernice Young Elementary in New Jersey is under fire after a teacher helped students write and perform a pro-Obama song.

But, many people have confused the school with Bernice Young Elementary in Springdale.

Officials at the Springdale school said they’ve received several phone calls from people all over the country about the story.

They’re making it clear, though, that the story has nothing to do with them.

We should make a clone tape of kids singing their praise of Newt or Fred Thompson. Can you imagine the howls!

How about we leave the original lyrics in..."Jesus loves the little children." I'm sure the Burlington School District would not disapprove of that now would they?

So let me get this straight, the mere mention of anything religious in a public school is assailed by the ACLU and other “separation of church and state” groups yet now our children are being taught to worship a false god...Obama, in the very same schools. This is truly disturbing.

Black History Month of what country? Kenya??? Or some other third world African socialist crap hole???

There are many loyal patriotic African American parents who do not approve of their kids being indoctrinated and used as political pawns any more than the good Germans who opposed their kids being indoctrinated and used as political pawns vis a vis the government-run schools of Nazi Germany.
